TBH, that is just a mainstream centrist position now.

Hey look it's the guy who sent the us army in to crush dissent and put down a black uprising against militarized white occupying cops in my city.

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 36 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

It sucks when it's more personal, like when obama-medal's favorite basketball playing buddy (relevant because that's how he was chosen for the job, according to a cute obama-socialism anecdote) Arne Duncan personally came by to fuck over my school district even harder than no-oil ever did.

[-] FidelChadstro@hexbear.net 23 points 2 days ago

Heh heh..... yea

[-] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 11 points 2 days ago

Obama and Gates decimated the already underfunded and crumbling public US school system with their charter bullshit. When nobody can read or do math in 20 years, they are the most direct culprits

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago

I know it, and as a former educator, my decision to retire early is due in part to the damage that they started and the increasing helplessness that I and my fellow teachers around me had, forcibly tied to bullshit test-prep mandates that were intended to be failed because failure means even more testing and punitive privatization.

Gates and his fellow "education reformer" buddy epstein (yes, he was involved in that!) wanted to screw kids in more ways than one.

I love how we’ve gone from “preemptively striking a country because we don’t like the cut of their jib” to “pretending the US’s ally didn’t already preemptively strike a country.”

[-] BashfulBob@hexbear.net 32 points 2 days ago

We're preemptively because they started it

[-] heggs_bayer@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago

A real life preemptive last resort.

[-] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 58 points 2 days ago

So Iran has already struck Israel, and Israel has already done assassinations on Iranian soil, so the only strike I can think he means at this point being "preemptive" is a nuclear one.

I am unironically wondering if Trump might be the harm reduction choice at this point.

[-] ClimateChangeAnxiety@hexbear.net 43 points 2 days ago

At least Trump is incompetent

I feel like Dem Congress with Trump as president is almost certainly the least bad outcome

[-] BashfulBob@hexbear.net 29 points 2 days ago

Dem Congress with Trump as president

Dems capitulating to Trump's fascist demands rather than Repubs plowing through fascist demands over Harris's lukewarm objections.

But in the end same-picture

[-] ClimateChangeAnxiety@hexbear.net 13 points 2 days ago

Any other Republican president I’d agree but they do still think Trump specifically is icky and between that and his incompetence it at least might gum up the works a bit

[-] SadArtemis@hexbear.net 12 points 2 days ago

Trump also has voiced opposition to the war in Ukraine, escalation with Russia and even the notion of WW3 with China.

Still a ghoul and as genocidal against Palestinians as anyone else in the US govt, still not someone anyone should support. But between these things and his threats of sanctioning countries that divest from the USD I honestly kinda hope that if either of two devils wins, he does. I imagine he'll be JFKed before he ever dares throw a wrench in the march to WW3 (if he dares- doubt) though

[-] Pentacat@hexbear.net 4 points 2 days ago

There’s still a chance they succeed at offing him before the election.

[-] SadArtemis@hexbear.net 4 points 2 days ago

Personally, I'm hoping he wins and then gets offed. Even better yet if he gets offed after further marshalling up support post-win and while he's in the process of negotiating peace. I'm imagining that will be the most disruptive way to go for the AmeriKKKan reich.

[-] Barx@hexbear.net 5 points 2 days ago

They would complain that he isn't funding the genocide fast enough (via some arms-related committee).

Source: This already happened during his last term for Yemen.

[-] bortsampson@hexbear.net 23 points 2 days ago

It's only rapidly escalating levels of harm from here on out. nuke stairs

[-] Pentacat@hexbear.net 18 points 2 days ago

He’s the only one of the four candidates of the major parties who is not a true believer.

[-] GeorgeZBush@hexbear.net 21 points 2 days ago

I've had a passing thought that he might try to approach Iran the way he did with DPRK, so he can get a photo op and strike a DEEEEL, but I think he's too tight with Zionists for that to ever happen. We're getting horror either way.

Taking out Iran would probably play into their longer term goals of containing China.

[-] robot_dog_with_gun@hexbear.net 23 points 2 days ago

nixon went to china

lmao if trump goes to iran

[-] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

America no longer has the option of “taking out” Russia, China or Iran one-by-one. They are all military Allies now and they will all support each other during war time with production, and they will all open proxy fronts while the US is busy with the others.

Brzezinski, the founding father of neoliberal foreign policy, was very clear in stating the worst case scenario for the west is to allow an axis to form between China-Russia-Iran. You are supposed to isolate and destroy. America’s “worst case scenario” has come to pass. A united Eurasia cannot be defeated.

[-] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 9 points 2 days ago

That's where I've been, if there is such a thing as a harm reduction candidate I think trump might be it. Ultimately I don't think it matters who wins in November, amerikkka will continue with their wholehearted support of isn'trael, but trump winning might get some libs to oppose him if only in a "he's doing what we want but with the wrong aesthetic" way. However they will be quick to go back to brunch at the earliest possible moment.

I am on the fence if he'd be more or less likely to commit to a war with Iran (assuming it hasn't broken out before his inauguration). One one hand I think he is more war-adverse than current Dems, not for any moral reasons but I think the possibility of losing and looking weak might deter him. The photos of flag covered caskets don't look great on the evening news.

On the other hand I think he would gladly continue airstrikes and drone strikes against people without anti-air capabilities but he might have second thoughts about a war with bad publicity. Though if isn'trael escalates further and amerikkka spins it as "protecting poor little isn'trael" all bets are off.

In any event hopefully Iran announces a successful nuclear test soon and has a more solid deterrence.

[-] Chapo_is_Red@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago

If Dems win it will affirm that a party can fully back what is widely recognized as a genocide (even among it's voters) and still win an election.

If that happens, I really think the country is hitting the fascism accelerator

[-] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 6 points 2 days ago

Walzi going full 100% Hitler faster than anticipated. I thought he would at least wait until after the election

[-] kleeon@hexbear.net 39 points 2 days ago

Isn't this that wholesome chungus guy that kamala picked for VP?

[-] Pentacat@hexbear.net 33 points 2 days ago

Wholesome Wehrmacht Walz? Yes!

[-] huf@hexbear.net 18 points 2 days ago

now now, be fair. if he had a gun in his hand and a working class person in his sights, if the worker was reasonably clean, he would probably not shoot.

[-] Pentacat@hexbear.net 19 points 2 days ago

This is a ringing endorsement for the humanity of a 2024 liberal.

[-] sweatersocialist@hexbear.net 45 points 2 days ago

omg hes so wholesome!!! he's just like my racist grandpa!!!

[-] FnordPrefect@hexbear.net 41 points 2 days ago

maybe-later-kiddo We have to let Nazis march and rally and have unfettered access to mainstream and social media to promote genocide! Otherwise they might prevent you from speaking out against genocide. It's called Democracy!

[-] TheDoctor@hexbear.net 14 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

What about the poor fascists and their right to own newspapers? parenti

[-] queermunist@lemmy.ml 41 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

They know Israel is going to bomb Iran's oil fields and guarantee Democrats lose, so they don't care about trying to win anymore.

[-] Nakoichi@hexbear.net 50 points 2 days ago

See for liberal politicians it doesn't really matter if they win or lose. They get to either keep grifting as the "opposition" or they get to get in on that sweet graft if they win a seat, or even better maybe get a good consulting job after leaving office.

[-] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 21 points 2 days ago

The real goal of the democrats this election is to drag the overton window as far to the right as possible so that the left never gets another chance even half as good as Bernie (dogshit as he is)

[-] CrowTankieRobot@hexbear.net 33 points 2 days ago

It's also nice to see that years after Roger Ailes toppled down the stairs to his demise, his successor(s) at Fox "News" still have the fetish for newsreaders from the Blonde Fembot Factory.

[-] edge@hexbear.net 25 points 2 days ago

What if they accidentally get one from the blonde femboy factory?

[-] EelBolshevikism@hexbear.net 25 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

it is prophesied that on that day, everything will change

[-] MayoPete@hexbear.net 3 points 2 days ago

Megman Kelly? panting

[-] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 17 points 2 days ago

It's wild, ain't it. If conservative news were to be believed, all blondes look the same.

[-] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 14 points 2 days ago

I thought it was also their watchers who needed that type on screen

[-] invalidusernamelol@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago

Yeah, they got used to it. They also want someone they can fantasize about on the TV

[-] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 8 points 2 days ago

Nazi Barbies are a subset of these Blonde Fembots desgined specifically for chuds

[-] GeorgeZBush@hexbear.net 29 points 2 days ago

wow i love my dad Tim Walz, there's that authentic Minnesota charm right dere, ya?

[-] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 29 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Reactionaries don’t believe in bad tactics only bad targets, because if klansmen “weren’t the people I’m talking about” man would Walz get an earful about how dare he want to do something about a terrorist group that the public likes.

[-] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 16 points 2 days ago

“I support the first amendment but…”

It’s always the same shit. Nobody actually gives a single fuck about free speech. Nobody is truly a free speech absolutist. Everyone is fine with opinions they agree with and wants to censor “the enemy propaganda”.

Wish people would just be honest and straightforward about it instead of this constant bullshit

[-] vegeta1@hexbear.net 19 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Great a couch fucker and a mealy mouth who talks out both sides of his mouth are VP choices

[-] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 19 points 2 days ago

I will always except not that always. Genius doublespeak
