Are you familiar with attachment theory? Do you know your attachment style?

I've heard about it before. While I've never had anyone else assess me on it, I'm pretty sure I'm avoidant.

Can I ask which modalities of therapy you have tried?

So far just talk therapy.

I have treatment resistant depression that various different antidepressants and antipsychotics over the years hasn't helped with.

Not in the sleepy way, but I'm either lying in bed or sitting at my computer most of the time because I lack the volition to do otherwise.

I read The Body Keeps the Score back in rehab and it resonated with me quite a bit. Many of the therapies listed in the last third of the book are pretty hard to find in my area sadly.

My testosterone levels are probably way too low due to my sedentary lifestyle.

I haven't felt anything besides low burning self contempt for years. Emotions like sadness and happiness elude me. I haven't sincerely shouted for joy or wept in years. I also have no desire to get close to other people and form relationships. This makes it nigh impossible for me to give a shit about even important things. While I don't feel much pain anymore, I also lack the spark that makes life worth living. I feel like a soulless automaton.

Does this sound like it's related to neurodivergence? I'm 100% depressed, but years of therapy and various different medications haven't done much, so I feel like there must be more to it.

The most surprising part of this drama to me is that no one on meanwhileongrad has made a post dunking on it yet.

I don't know how well it works, since I don't do it, but I've been adviced to do it by my dad who works in cybersec for the FBI.

Hold up, your dad works for the... wait a minute?

spoilerWell played

only 4/20 of the posts there are made by people primarily using he/him pronouns.

"Cishet white guy behavior" is perfectly understandable to me as shorthand for the in-group/out-group superiority/inferiority complex that's plagued this site since the beginning, but I've been here continuously from the beginning. It's a poor signifier for users who haven't been here the whole time (whether new users or old users that left for a while) or even people with a different perspective/experience of the site.

I'll defer to you on this since I haven't been around close to as long and am not marginalized. A big issue I saw was that a lot of marginalized people caught strays for enjoying "cishet white guy behavior" and made it known that they saw it as invalidating.

The mods/admins who were using the "it's cishet white guy behavior" angle never attempted to explain why they consider it to be the case. They just asserted it and stuck to it when many marginalized people were dissenting against the rule change. Your 4 paragraph comment spent more time making a good faith argument for the behavior to be white cis etc than hours worth of comments made by the offending mods.

Forget Swing States. It’s These 21 Microcommunities That Could Decide the Election.

In almost every presidential battleground state, polling suggests something close to a dead heat between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. In these states, there are key geographic voting blocs that could determine the outcome.

The best way to tell how a state will vote is to build from the precinct level up, to dig into neighborhood data and to look at the differences in demographics and voting patterns across those precincts. Using this approach, I assembled more than 100 political microcommunities in the battleground states.

Think of them as pieces of a puzzle representing distinct political and social trends that can help us understand the 2024 election. For Ms. Harris and Mr. Trump, each could be a crucial building block in a winning swing-state coalition.

I selected four states that offer a regional and demographic variety of the precinct-cluster puzzle pieces. Within each, there are opportunities for both candidates.

People I know are sharing polymarket predictions about the presidential election, and just reading about how the predictions work sounds like the most capitalism-brained nonsense. Like, try reading this without shaking your head:

On Polymarket, you can buy and sell shares representing future event outcomes (i.e. "Will TikTok be banned in the U.S. this year?")

Shares in event outcomes are always priced between $0.00 and $1.00 USDC, and every pair of event outcomes (i.e. each pair of "YES" + "NO" shares) is fully collateralized by $1.00 USDC.

Shares are created when opposing sides come to an agreement on odds, such that the sum of what each side is willing to pay is equal to $1.00.

The shares representing the correct, final outcome are paid out $1.00 USDC each upon market resolution.

Unlike sportsbooks, you are not betting against "the house" – the counterparty to each trade is another Polymarket user. As such:

Shares can be sold before the event outcome is known_ (i.e. to lock in profits or cut losses)

There is no "house" to ban you for winning too much.

Thing is, I'm 3 stupid 5 explaining why this stuff sounds off. Am I just doing a liberalism by speaking without investigating more? Is this as BS as it comes off as to me?

Mine is when a lib says that a socialist leader is filthy rich because le ebil dictator owns literally everything in the country.

In 8^th^ grade my social studies teacher showed The Notebook to the class to help teach us about WWII. The movie had less than 5 minutes of content about the war; the rest was only tangentially related at best because it was set in that time period.

Granted, its to prevent overcentralization of Lemmy and not related to their shit takes, but still sicko-laser

Easily one of my favorite bits up there with confederate Stalin.
