Private torrent trackers have all the reasons to remain private, and I don't blame them for that and I am glad private trackers exists. But the torrent files themselves have a setting that says "this torrent is private", which makes the BitTorrent client to not distribute them via DHT, which makes magnetic links not work with them, so they are restricted to people who can obtain the torrent file from the private tracker.

What if clients had an option (on by default) to distribute the torrent via DHT and perform PEX, while still taking care to: a) not place the private tracker in the magnetic link the user might generate, and b) separate the upload/download statistics for the peers returned by the private tracker, so the ratio statistics in the private tracker are not skewed?

This way, private torrents could "escape" into the wild, still maintaining the privacy and social/closed community effects of the private tracker. Someone could download something for a friend or for a random person who asks for some content in a forum, send them the magnetic link, and don't have the private tracker activities or anonymity affected in any way.

What do you think of this idea? How do you think it would be received by private trackers and BitTorrent client developers? What are the drawbacks you can think of?

So, basically, I often find torrent movies which contains this type of dir/file hierarchie; how can I watch them?

I just realised yesterday that the size of my media library was growing significantly faster than anticipated. The culprit seems to be that hard linking doesn't work in radarr and sonarr because I messed up the folder structure of my docker containers, so they've been copying everything to my media folders instead.

Now, the real issue is that my media folders are a mix of and older collection (manually sorted) and the new parts that has been added through radarr/sonarr, so I can't just nuke that and re-import everything from my torrents folder once I've fixed the folder structure. I don't want to nuke the torrents folder because I want to keep seeding all my downloads (most through private trackers, so I need the download credit it creates), but the imported library in my media folders has all the files renamed and many rearranged.

What's the easiest way to fix this? There's about 8tb of actual data, without duplicates, I have 6tb of unused disk space left.

Intro: Webtoon is an app/website where (mostly Korean) comics are released in short episodes. Those episodes aren't released all at once but usually once a week, you have a free unlock a day and if you want you can have more by either watching an ad or by paying with coins, that are paid with real money. I used it for years and I was ok by watching the ads at the end of each episode. It limited myself to one a day, otherwise I would scroll for hours. So the guide on how to push away users to piracy:

1. Have a scary reminder at the beginning of every episode that says that piracy is illegal. (I can't screenshot that without a rooted phone, it's blocked). This helps the user to have a daily notification that yes, this content is also available somewhere else and you're not bound to artificial limits.

2. Put the last three episodes of a series started 3-4 years ago in perpetual paywall. No more "just wait one week to get the new episode". You want to see how that 200 episodes story that you're reading almost every day for 3 years ends? LOL pay $6 to buy a coins package!

3. Now that the user is pissed that they can't know how the story ends, they'll just search it on the illegal sites, since over the past years they had to skip through 200 reminders that yes, this story is also available over there.

Stremio has all that helpful plugins, and steaming platforms are just assholes increasing prices, and reducing the quality of their products.

Ok so I grabbed the portable version from Sourceforge to pirate a few of my favorite channels from YT and after a few minutes of working, Malwarebytes Pro coughs up a furball and tells me one of the files is infected with a Generic.Ransomeware???

Anyone else ever run across or hear of anything like this? I know false positives are rampant these days but I'd rather not take the chance.

Also, not to sound stupid but is Sourceforge not the original place to get Tartube???

I would like to have a certain show ripped and stored on my pc but I cant find any rips of it on the internet. I would buy the subscription myself and share it online but Im not that good at ripping stuff (for sure not as good as groups). Movies: I like to playback raw video files with a desktop video player. I settle for nothing less. I would gladly pay a few doubloons in exchange for a movie video file download but nobody offers this, (except for GOG that one time with a paltry selection of films).

Games: "Hey we released this new game buuuuut you're going to need to purchase an entire separate computer system we call a 'console' because we refuse to compile the game binary for PC OSes, nor provide the source for you to do so yourself"

I interpret distributors and publishers treating me as a second (or third) class citizen as carte blanche to acquire your content and make the necessary changes to make it work on my environment of choice.
