Lemmy.sdf.org is where my main is hosted, but they're currently down (as is their pixelfed instance)

It's not just you / a regional block.

That's likely to happen anyway because he put himself in a no win scenario. The hard liners' demands can't make it through the Senate, because even the Senate Republicans aren't onboard with that shit.

So it's cut a deal with the Democrats to keep the government open, and get primaried, or shutdown the government and weaken the party in 2024... And get primaried because his speakership was disastrous.

Gaetz's imaginary door #3 doesn't exist, and McCarthy knows it.

Theoretically, on the federal charges, but not any state charges (such as the ones expected to be brought in Georgia)

Of course, a self-pardon has never been tested, and while the composition of the Supreme Court should be favorable to him doing so, it's not guaranteed that they would actually be on board. There would be a constitutional crisis if he tried to self-pardon, and the Supreme Court ruled that he could not (which could be nearly solved by impeachment of either the President or various Justices, but that will not happen under the present dysfunction of the Senate)

Someone who is literally in jail can become President, technically. What the day-to-day reality of that would be, I've no clue. But it's technically possible, and we've had people (most notably Eugene Debs) run from behind bars.

If they're going to require historical scholarship when evaluating gun laws, they should not be surprised when that effort exposes the lie that "guns were allowed to be brought anywhere for any reason"

After all, even the famous shootout at the OK Corral happened over enforcement of a regulation prohibiting gun carrying in town.

Honestly, most communities are pretty small at the moment - I would start your own, and if you're super successful and the mod load gets too much, I'm sure you'd find others willing to volunteer to help, if not outright take over moderation duties.

Good, we could use more labor actions in the US. Why not start with Hollywood?

It's Lemmy World's tokens being invalidated (because of the back) that's causing the issue, not Liftoff (source: I had the same issues with Connect)

Clearing your app cache, and signing out and back in, ought to solve it.

Wow, this is... something else.

The ability to get to the suburbs isn't a limiting factor in the US for theft, since a) most people have access to someone's car (whether their own or a friend's) because of how car-centric the design is, and b) Uber/Lyft are a thing, and I assure you those drivers care not one bit why you're going where you are going.

But, homes get robbed in rural areas with no public transportation every day already. And the culprits already have their own transportation. Totally wild and unfounded logic here.

Try clearing cookies (or app cache, on app), that will most likely resolve the issue.

I use August Smart Lock Pro integrated with Google Assistant, the integration was pretty simple but it does require you to get the Connect module to make the whole setup work.
