This is why I joined this- She was not speaking up for women’s reproductive care, she wasn’t speaking up for trans kids, she wasn’t speaking up for Palestinian kids being wiped off the face of the Earth. She also post her minor children without consent, at least informed consent. It’s just funny how many people stay in her circle because they know they could benefit from her financially. I would never wanna be associated with someone who benefited me financially, yet did nothing to actually make use of a platform. All her friends are just gonna keep quitting. They’re meaningful jobs that actually make a difference in the world to push shitty high waste products. She’ll just keep traveling and increasing her carbon footprint. Honestly, my kid who is like 30 years her Junior has done more to make positive impact. We don’t need another white bleach, blonde, heavily, edited, wealthy woman, influence of anybody.

Now the child doesn’t mean any malice from this, but S posting this is a type of video that should be reported. Accidentally capturing a “my child is being silly” moment is one thing but you delete it and give the lesson about CONSENT. But S thinks it’s something that she should be posting it publicly? With her minor child? Please tell me this was reported. If not and anyone follows her still, REPORT this. This is a red flag for abuse. This is the kind of stuff I wouldn’t even go to instanavigation to see. Does she know this is innapropriate? Having film of a minor doing shit like this is NOT okay.

That Dana person and Mik person do that too. Like, we know about sitting and standing and how it affects clothes. It’s boring. A great influencer called her out on this crap years ago she’s an Italian plus sized woman but I don’t follow any influencers so I forget her name.

Even gymnasts when they tilt their waist they get a crease. When I was 100LBS I had a roll when I sat. It’s skin. It’s genetics. It’s called “bodies are not marble statues”. We should celebrate what our bodies do for us (run races, fight cancer, protest, volunteer, carry our kids, care for sick loved ones, survive trauma) but holy crap can we stop with the whole “I’m a regular store size I have rolls”. Almost everyone her age does (I do), and it’s okay but it’s also very unimportant. I’ve never looked at my partner coworkers, clients or friends and thought “ew those jeans look awful when they sit” but I have felt pain from wearing jeans like hers and life’s too short to buy shitty clothes made in a sweatshop in too small of a size.

Stop buying fast fashion Sarah, and stop pushing affiliate codes on people to buy high rise “strigid” bullshit jeans that LOOK like they hurt! Even in person she’s not plus sized, and she can definitely buy bigger stuff or stuff that doesn’t squeeze, pinch or hurt her body. I wear yoga pants or leggings and comfy dresses, and if something doesn’t fit I get it tailored, take it in myself or give it to a friend. But when people say size up and she says the waist gaps, then WHY IS SHE PUSHING CODES FOR “amazing” JEANS THAT ARE BAD JEANS ALL THE TIME?

I don’t think any of the friends of TBP are on here, but commenting would mean they read and look at feedback, and possibly want to snark). If if they are here: Free Palestine! Land back! Learn about Sudan and DRC! Boycott Coke! Boycott Tim’s & McD’s! Speak up about consent! Call your friends out if they think consent is annoying! Call your friends out on plagiarizing! If your accounts are public, make them safe spaces! Tell your friends it’s unsafe to post their kids’ whereabouts all the time!

But if they aren’t here, Bri has done a lot of work that is a copycat (like the bubble gum thing). I’m in the field and am paid well for what I do , and I’ve not lost out on business from Bri doing what she does, so her getting jobs doesn’t affect me. I’ve also done a lot of free projects, and I never post or allow photos or articles about pieces if it’s a nod to another piece (for a private commission) and I must disclose original artists for any variations I’ve done on different artwork.

I think some of her work does have merit, but it’s just so weird and outdated to see pretty, white, thin, cisgender women (or white presenting, because I don’t know Bri’s background) constantly “hired” for things, and the same friend group showing up to each event.

I’m sure Bri is a pleasant human with a passion for art, and that’s so cool! Art is awesome. Nobody needs perfection in all pieces, but sometimes suggesting craftspeople who are more capable is a way to uplift fellow artists and ensure the piece is done properly. And then, if there were a job that were more suited to her abilities than they would in turn, do the same for her. If I’m asked to do something I haven’t perfected I’ll bring a friend or fellow artist on and work with them, or pass along an artist’s name and simply say “I know someone who is more suited to this project”

She copies almost all the art she does. I’m in the “art” field and I’ve seen so many of her things that she’s done months if not years before she does them. And while there’s nothing wrong with doing things we see online (hello, inspo) , it’s very disturbing to be getting all this attention when a quick internet search reveals most stuff has been done before. A few artists I follow did a Polly pocket build months ago and even recorded the process on YT. Moonlight Jewel (YT) aka moonlight_jewel_dolls (IG) and rainstorm.creations (IG) did an awesome Polly Pocket which was all posted in April. And they weren’t even the firsts!

OK the wording is very entitled. “last family vacation before [she] goes to university”? So she’ll be mad if she doesn’t get another vacation in August?!!!!!! Does she realize this is very very very upsetting to almost all of her followers? Most families have one big family vacation in their lifetime and then just maybe visiting family once a year. This is privilege like I’ve never freaking seen it in my life. This is the type of thing that you don’t say you might think but you don’t say because it is so entitled and disgusting.

Kids start school in September and she just went on a VERY luxurious family vacation. How many freaking vacations is a family of 6+2 grandparents expected to have in one summer?!!!! The also have a pool!!! And also they bought a freaking cottage!

I blocked her a long time ago but I hope people call her out. This is spoiled brat behaviour. They’ll vacation at Christmas (maybe even spring break). I don’t know if M is staying in Guelph, but if that’s the case, they can vacation ANY time when she’s on breaks.

Also: boycott companies supporting genocide and influencers who profit from them too .

So wait… one can stay at the animal kingdom for less than pink cottage in Flesherton ? If animal kingdom has clean water… I’m just saying it sounds like a steal 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

OK, so if people comment that they don’t want to get “early access” to an overpriced, cheaply made fast fashion factory romper (that she didn’t personally make herself with her own hands, so you’re not calling out her talent or skill or worth) she attacks with telling you that nobody should love or date you, then blasts you publicly? So people who cannot afford $140, and do not want to support a company that has now switched their manufacturing out of Canada (and who are constantly sending stuff to the same shine people who all fly around nonstop and pollute the earth) are all supposed to like the garment? You didn’t attack her body, looks or worth. You called out a clothing garment. If people were more concerned about actual genocide, and the rights of trans kids, being stripped from them, as they were about being told, the romper is ugly , then we might have more freaking goodness happening in the world. I would say don’t engage with people like her. I blocked her about a year ago? Don’t delete your account, let her minions get in a tizzy about you not liking 3 metres of fabric, and let her show how ridiculous her priorities are.

Prediction: it will be the arrae (that brand that apparently fixes bloating instantly that no doctor will recommend). They are now pushing a “faux-zempic.”

We don’t need brand collabs with blonde white women influencers, we need influencers talking about Indigenous History Month, Pride Month, genocide and boycotting. But sure. Let’s see another collaboration.

She shouldn’t be ashamed of her real body. She is beautiful. We are all beautiful. I’m actually so sad that a candid shot of her on someone else’s FB triggered ED for her years back. I’m upset that ED launched an obsession with seeing herself everywhere. I’m upset that my ED was triggered by following her way back after seeing her on a magazine in a doctors office (right I had just had a baby too). I’m upset that I continued to follow her as she got physically bigger (and looked healthier) but she still looked less “flawed” in all her images and I held myself to that standard. Luckily I am a very community involved person who focused on other actually important things and it stopped consuming me - but I’m the depths of ED it’s very hard to see clearly , and you feel like influencers are your “friends” cheering you on- they aren’t. They profit from self-doubt and self-loathing.

Influencers who are flying everywhere all the time really don’t care about the environment at all. I mean, it’s obvious with overconsumption and fast fashion, and pushing brands on people left right and center, but when you find out they’re going to in person events all the time outside of their country back to back to back, then they don’t care about the world their kids grow up in. Let’s just wait to see if there’s any complaints from her about the extreme heat and hopefully someone can say like “stop freaking flying around all the time contributing to extreme pollution!”

[-] olivesandpoppies@lemmy.ca 15 points 3 months ago

I mean, I came to this page originally because I was really angry that influencers were not speaking out against atrocities in the world, but I do feel that this is digital manipulation to sell crap is problematic- she IS PRETTY here as herself (And well people might say, well, she’s had her eyebrows tattooed her lips done, makeup and unnatural hair color, BUT that is true for a lot of people, and those things don’t make people look so unlike themselves that they’re on recognizable, so I think it’s safe to say that it’s not body altering to the extreme.). And there’s nothing wrong with her un-edited (well… Even Getty images have some editing done to them and there’s also camera lenses that will make each photo look better but I mean, it’s not unrealistic). Remarkable face/look as herself? No- but that’s what her whole platform is supposed to be. She looks like a person. Audiences should expect this version of this person.
