My goal is just to have a community where people can go and see what new game news is out for the day and comment on it.
Other communities:
Its a great show. Binged it, and while they lean way more into Bethesda's own games, they absolutely do not leave out the first game through New Vegas and pay homage quite a bit.
People complain that it leans towards bathesda fallout. Well Bethesda fallout games have sold like 50 million copies while the first two only sold like 750k, so it's no surprise they're leaning on the more popular version.
Let this be a lesson to game companies making tv shows.
If it's GOOD, it will boost the popularity of the franchise.
Cyberpunk. Last of us. Even Arcane boosted the Riot games.
Is this why Epic announced that they would be giving them away for free, then on the day of, swapped them out for different games without a word? Lol
Well the huge discounts also helped a bit
76 is currently free to try. It made me want to go back and finish Fallout 4.
It really shows the relative incompetence of MS/Bethesda how we didn’t get a new game or at least a remake next to the show (like Sony did with TLOU). They have a great universe, and now it’s more popular than ever, millions would be happy to pay for a modern Fallout game, me included.
Edit: or maybe they are just focusing on milking F76, which is still a bad choice, but at least has some (corporate) logic.
They're doing a next gen update for FO4. I imagine that most of their resources are going into Skyrim's successor
You would hope so,that can help explain ~~starcitizen~~ Star field
Made so little impact on my life I always forget it haha
I wonder how many of them are just getting the games to learn who the hell the factions are because the show really didn't say a helluva lot. I mean shit, they had a big reveal about one in the end, and if I hadn't known them from the game the impact would have been lost entirely.
It's definitely awesome as a fan. I'm interested in how non-fans enjoyed it though.
My brother never played fallout, the show left him wanting to find out more about the world, so I guess that's why they were somewhat vague. Also leaves more to explore in season 2
That's pretty on brand though. You can definitely complete the games without really learning much faction lore at all if you want. It's there for people who want it, but the basic story barely even scratches the surface of you don't do the extra reading.
Something to note. This doesn't explicitly mention sales, just concurrent players. That isn't to say there weren't sales, but this just indicates people going back to play the games more than it does explicitly mean there was a bunch of new sales.
76 is having a free to play week, which will definitely boost the number of players. It was interesting at first, but the more I play it the more the MMO aspects make me want to go back to Fallout 4 and NV.
I definitely got the urge to play Fallout 3 again.
My roommate just bought the 3, 4, and New Vegas and asked me for the best play order to play the series in.
I just gave her the starter order of 3 then New Vegas and then to ask me if she wants to really dive into the vault afterwards.
Just 1 episode with me slightly complaining about lore during it and she bought the games. Looked beautiful, but too much 76.
I'm watching through it at the moment and yeah, it definitely makes me wanna do another playthrough.
Been replaying heavily modded Tale of Two Wastelabds and have been having a blast. Fallout 3 is a lot better with NV's mechanics.
I want to play 4 but i also want to play with proper VATS....
Is there an option or a mod for this?
If i wanted to play a shooting game, i would play FPS.
When you say “proper VATS” are you referring to Fallout 1 & 2?
Even FO:3 and FO:NV vats is fine
Anything that doesnt force me to play like an FPS. Anything that pauses combat fully.. Or better yet make it fully turn based
I don’t remember Fallout 4 VATS being any different from 3 or NV
Last time i looked it was just slowed time, not paused
Also, whats up with the downvotes for preferring to play an RPG with turn based combat, or at least something close to it??
It is slow enough that it is effectively paused. It's more of a visual effect than a significantly different mechanic.
Thanks! I'll check it out
Fallout 76 has been getting free dlc every three months since release. It's packed with content 😍
Is there a mod that would decouple it from online play entirely? My biggest gripe with 76 is that the enemy behavior is janky as fuck because of lag; the monsters shouldn't be rubber-banding when I'm in a solo room.
Can you even play solo without anyone around? I tried but I kept seeing other players in stupid outfits running around and it was annoying. I just want to play it as if it's any other fallout, on my own
Yeah it's just a private server basically. You're still connecting to a server though, and the monsters must be server side because they slide around like crazy. It's infuriating, and literally the only thing that keeps me from enjoying it.
Playing from australian internet I don't even have this problem lol
I played that once and didn't like it. I was trying to play on my own single player, and kept seeing players running around in stupid outfits and it took me out of it
Fallout 76 has a lot of good content in it, the Wastelanders DLC was pretty awesome overall.
