I’m wondering why this hasn’t been addressed yet. There were posts last night asking about it that have since been removed. There should be some post explaining the incident and what actions are being taken. But, there definitely needs to be additional action taken to prevent this going forward.

Posted this in another thread that was apparently taken down, so trying again:
What is the complete correct response for users to carry out if they spot CP?
Is just the report button on the post good enough? Is there some kind of higher level report for bigger-than-just-one-instance shit that threatens Lemmy as a whole? Should we call the FBI or some shit?
I haven't come across any here, but if I do, I'd like to be able to aid in swift action against not only the post/account in question, but against the actual person running it.
Hi OP. I'm sorry that you were exposed to CP. Thankfully I didn't see it before it was purged, but I'm sure it was distressing, especially for someone who was a victim.
I feel that you post is important, but this is not really the appropriate community to raise it. Can you please re-post in support@Lemmy.world?
Lemmy really does need improvements to their moderator tools, it my biggest complaint
Not only is it my biggest complaint it's something I've seen mods on many instances and communities complain about
Hell as it stands right now if someone is banned or has their comment removed the only way they'll know is if they check the mod logs if they're from another instance
They'll literally be able to continue to interact with the instance they're banned from and the only difference they'll see is that people from the instance they're banned from aren't interacting with the post as they don't see it
When the source instance deletes the content, it should federate that delete to every instance that received it.
I think this happens properly when individual posts are deleted but not when a 'purge' is done of all a users's posts. Not sure.
That sounds like a good idea. Lemmy is still beta version software and there are not that many mods, in part bc they have to expose themselves to this kind of thing all the time.
It should get better as people build new tools. But it takes time, and effort. For instance, even this system that we are talking about could devolve into a "mod harassment tool", where someone falsely reports something and in the report itself puts horrible content.
Some people just suck. It takes real effort to make the world suck a bit less, and for the most part it's a thankless job that brings 99% heartache. With that in mind, I think the mods are doing great, but yeah more needs to be done at the same time. And it will.
