RE: the disability
More destructive pixelation/blurring may be advisable but have no idea if thatβs 100% paranoid or 110% paranoid
Just post something π

Is it weird that even with your face blurred, you look like I expected you to look.
Same.
Congrats, FlyingSquid! I hope your family is happy there.
I hope so too, thank you!
I don't know if that's good or bad.
I can't believe you totally doxxed yourself by posting a pic of a map that contains where you live.
Damn it, I thought I was being too specific about that.
Hurrah!
(now please for my sanity straighten those picture frames)
The teenager will just put them askew again. She keeps doing it for some reason.
All your picture frames are slightly crooked, I'm calling the police!
Congratulations mate, I look forward to you developing a strong opinion on the best flavour of monster munch
Edit: Where do you reckon you'll end up or are you looking all over?
I am looking all over. As long as I can get a job, that's where I'll live. The goal is to just get my daughter (who is queer) out of the U.S. where she'll be safer.
Well I can't blame you for that
Obviously you will end up where you end up, but I'd advocate for my current corner of the country in the north west (Manchester & Liverpool) as being particularly friendly and open minded places
Edit: might take you a week or two to get an ear for the accents though haha
Not me, I'm fine with British accents (overall). My wife and daughter on the other hand...
Immersion is the best way to get used to it anyway!
I wish you luck in your search man, (preemptive) welcome to the UK!
Thanks so much! I can't wait to get over there!
Congrats. I remember seeing you post about it. Happy to see you followed through.
How do you like it so far?
Holding a passport? Quite a bit. Unfortunately, I am not on British soil yet. I need a job first, but I am interviewing. Thanks!
Whats the job market look like in the UK these days. Its been off my radar since Brexit. Is it "Tip Top" or "Close your eyes and think of England"?
I'm sure like any job market, it depends on what you're looking for. At least for now, everyone seems to need someone who can shoot and edit video for them if they don't contract with someone to do it, so I've been able to send out tons of CVs. But I also am applying for anything anywhere in the entire country, which helps.
Beans on toast! Mushy peas! Ninety nine!
Are you really? Congratulations man!
Good show, old chap.
Until I zoomed in, I thought the passport was a flask. My eyes must be going bad at my age. I can't make out ANY of the details of his face!!!
That's just my natural face and I already said it was a sensitive topic.
:(
Haha, I thought it was a flask too. I went back after reading your comment to see I was wrong.
Now I really want a flask that looks like a British passport.
At customs: "whaddaya mean thatss not my passport! It's 100% proof! No wait, 100 proof. You wanna drink? *hic*"
Brexit may have made life more difficult for many British people, but hey, at least the passports are blue now.
(In case you don't know, British passports were dark red when we were in the EU - in keeping with other EU passports - and when Britain left the EU, the government decided to make passports blue like they were in the olden days, because they thought this would appeal to boomers)
Yeah, I was surprised because I was expecting it to be red.
Congrats!! Doing what a bunch of us only dream of doing.
Thank you. I wish I could take everyone with me.
I'm your interviewer and you failed the post-interview test. Please return your passport until you can spell Bri'ish correctly.
Never! I'm colonizing you back and you have to take the U out of colour and say and spell it 'aluminum' now!
Congratulations are in order, I think! Happy for you for taking care of your fam and escaping our crazy country. Most importantly, I hope a lot of stress has been relieved for you all and you can be much less stressed job hunting. At any rate, almost any job that will hire you should work for now, just to get you stabilised there. Best of luck in your job search and happy holiday ahead.
Iβve been dabbling with the idea of moving to the UK with my spouse, but we havenβt seriously pursued it. We loved visiting multiple times and enjoyed the vibe. This inspires me to take a look into it further. Iβm a software engineer working remotely and Iβm curious if my company would let me move abroad. Iβm going to talk to my spouse more seriously about this over the winter holiday and see what happens. Weβre both sad about the US - I really thought and believed that the people in this country were inherently good and decent and wouldnβt let it fall to Fascism. Constitution over cult. Boy did it hurt to find out how wrong I was. Feel like we also need to escape, and if we canβt get across the pond, at least moving to a progressive state is in order.
Wow! Congrats Squid! I'm very jealous, but very happy for you!
Get some Yorkshire Gold tea and Heinz Beans to practice.
Bah. Yorkshire Gold. English tea is weak now that I've discovered Irish tea. Never going back.
(Also, thanks!)
That's great! I wish you all the best with the job search.
Thank you!
Congratulations!
Though surely youβre legally obliged to wear a pinstriped suit and bowler hat for the ceremony?
Sadly, as I did it online (I'm still overseas), there will be no official ceremony.
Congrats! So what football team are you supporting?
The one that kicks the ball the best I guess? I don't even support any American sports teams.
The World's Strongest Man Competition is pretty cool though. They carry cars on their shoulders down a race track.
