They're still a bit sore afterwards but overall I'm thrilled. I've always wanted to get my ears pierced but was told since I was a boy I could only get one pierced, so I never did it back then, but since I'm not actually a boy (I'm a trans girl) I figured why let that stop me.

Anyone got any recommendations for earrings I should get that suit a tomboy aesthetic? rn I have only the basic studs but I'm looking to get some more for after the healing process is complete. Any suggestions?

Congratulations! I got mine pierced earlier this year. They are going to be the most sore for like the first week or two which makes things like wearing headphones not fun...

Asides from hoop earrings and studs, I feel like earrings with unpolished gemstones may fit your aesthetic well.

Yeah I tried wearing a beanie recently and it was not pleasant. Can't wear them like I normally like to rn.

Also thanks for the suggestion, I think those will look very cool.

That's awesome, congrats!

Congratulations! Be a little afraid of towels now! The stud earrings can get caught up in the loops when drying your hair. It hurts when that happens and could even damage your earlobe.

Oh, I'll definitely keep that in mind, gotta make sure to be extra careful when drying off after showering.

Regardless of style, I can promise you that you will not regret buying titanium jewelry, the real stuff(this is jκyust one description on how).

Its far less likely to cause you issues, and can be anodized a variety of colors if you prefer a less traditional color. Even with the nicest stone, you'd still be better going with a fake stone but real titanium.

If you ever decide to have wider gauge earrings, tempered glass is also as non-reactive as it comes. Any other materials should be assessed from a place of already having jewelry your body is good with, rather than buying your next size/replacing lost ones.

I'm a cis guy (at least, as far as I'm aware), but I've wanted to try some earrings. I remember, as a kid, being vaguely jealous of my sister getting her ears pierced.

I say don't let that stop you, if you want to get your ears pierced you should absolutely do it. Don't let judgement of stupid people stop you, do what makes you happy, and be who you want.

Some say transitioning unlocks double jumps, but in actuality it just unlocks double piercing

Congratulations!

One day... (I want to grow my hair out a little more first)

[–] dipshit@lemm.ee 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I'm working on growing my hair out as well, it's frustrating how slowly it grows but hopefully it'll be long soon. Then I plan to dye it too, just like in my profile picture.

Nice! I bet that'll look awesome <3

Awesome, congrats

Congratulations! I got my other ear pierced early in my transition (one was already pierced and just needed stretched). The best advice is to leave them the hell alone other than maybe saline solution. If you're like me, you're going to want to wear all those cute/dangly earrings you see everywhere now. Resist that urge as best you can. Give it time and let them heal. It can take up to a year for your piercings to fully heal and every time you change your earrings before that process is complete, you add time to the clock.

[–] dipshit@lemm.ee 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah I was told I should wear only the stud until it heals completely.

Correct. Don't touch them, rinse them with saline, and you'll be g2g. I got mine done last week and I absolutely love them. I hate needles, but oh my gosh I can't stop looking at myself with them. And congrats!

Grats!

Some stores sell packs with different shapes and types, so you could try a few and see how you like them. It's okay to mix and match too!

Another thing to try is looking up some celebrities that have a look you like. Androgynous might be a useful search term.

A large part of how my egg cracked was me getting both my ears pierced, someone saying my earrings looked super pretty, and that moment being the happiest I felt all year.

[–] Tywele@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Congrats! I plan to do that in the coming year. Don't want to have my ears hurting during Christmas and New Year's Eve 😅

[–] dipshit@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

That's reasonable, I did it now because I wanted to, and also because I know the sooner I do it, the sooner the healing process can start.
