Can confirm. The UI alone is atrocious.

While I'm not saying it's perfect, I still think it's aeons better than Skype was shortly after its acquisition by Microsoft.
I find it's a bit of a toss-up. Teams does manage to fix/improve on many things that Skype did, but it also screws up in new and infuriating ways.
MS's modus operandi seems to be "bundle and make just good enough that corps will stay in our ecosphere and not going to buy into a competing product"
I'm sick of notifications not coming through on Teams. Fucking piece of shit program.
I'm sick of imaginary notifications coming through and making my taskbar flash, only to open it up and NOTHING IS THERE.
I don't have any strong feelings about Teams. It just is what it is. It's a chat app for work, like it's just there to spy on me and keep me in contact with co-workers. It's whatever. Of all the things I think about in the day, Teams is not one of them.
If it was used strictly as a chat app it still couldn’t hold water to AIM. I’ve got colleagues who insist on storing files there and if you couldn’t imagine SharePoint being any worse try using it in the Teams interface. Microsoft is too big for their own good. Instead of doing 1 thing amazingly, they do 1000 things shittily
But colored folders!
If teams was just teams and didn't have all this cross integration bullshit with OneDrive/SharePoint and Todo and viva I wouldn't mind it.
But no, it has to be part of the ecosystem 🤮
Why do they want IT admins to be useless?
Am I the only one that like Team?
You can like it but I have no idea why. Even if you exclusively use it as a chat app…it sucks. The most recent message is always pulled up/down(depends on settings). The nomenclature is terrible. Go to the ‘whatever team’ in Teams and post a message in the ‘whatever channel’. Saying that verbally to somebody makes it even less clear.
The notifications settings are woefully lacking. Somebody created a chat in the wrong Team? Can you move it? Nope. Had a productive conversation about something that you want to save? Can you export that chat? Nope.
Mind you these are all features in the top 20 or so of most voted on feature request in the Teams community website. So people really want them.
This is mostly a settings thing controlled by the admins but all of our messages auto delete after 60 days. So going back to double check that thing somebody said? Nope. Didn’t write it down elsewhere because it wasn’t important…until it was. That export chat feature would be super handy…
No no. There are 2 other people who agree with you
Seems to work fine for me. Shrug.
Fuck Microsoft. But first, Fuck Google, Fuck Amazon, Fuck Facebook. I am sure I could think of a few more that are worse than Microsoft, as bad as they are.
Oracle ...
oh yeah, those for sure!
Dog shit has plenty of good things going for it, frankly. It acts as a fertilizer and really its existence just means that your best bud's internal organs are functioning properly.
Teams however
all default purple theme apps are dog shit, and there are a lot of them. any graphic designer who chooses purple needs to be prevented from designing anything ever. i have to see that fake color a third of my weekdays and it takes a full weekend of spending time outdoors and seeing green to recuperate.
And fuck cyan too!!! !!!!!!!!!!!
Oh and fucking YELLOW !!!!!
People are different. For me some purple actually is good. As opposed to green on computer displays. Real green is very good, of course.
Any non-neutral color is hard though.
I’m so tired of web engine based apps
Decades of speed increases in hardware, yet software is slower than ever because we're wasting it on JavaScript.
Yup
Screen shared coding with 1 fps. Genius.
Can't even see animations, quick actions, or significant subtleties.
Of all the Microsoft products I’m forced to use for work, teams is by far the best. It still sucks. Fuck Microsoft. Fuck monopolies.
I mean , works for me. You know what is complete bullshit?
SKYPE. Using that in a work environment is a nightmare
i just hate everything about micro$oft nowadays to be honest.. and i use and always will use linux mainly aswell cause of my hatred for windows in general
My company has teams and slack and IT wants to switch to all teams. The thread where they announced this had to be locked. :D I don't know how a trillion dollar company can't get this right. Worst yet the bundle that shit with everything and overworked IT depts pick it by default.
If a company uses other Microsoft products, chance are that Teams is bundled with whatever license they have. So for IT, it's one less service to manage.
That is the actual reason this happens. Another one is financial people trying to cut costs or something. Slack licensing is not a small cost if you have lots of people.
However it should be said that IT and finance are supposed to support the company, not the other way around. If they're choosing shit services they should be replaced with people who actually support the company.
Yeah but that time is long gone. Finance is throwing number in air of growth and profitability that must be met no matter what, and IT have to battle between what is effective, what the company tell them to do and what the users want, and in many case, the IT has a misplaced elitist attitude, like every user should know the infrastructure by heart and fix their problem themselves.
I mean, with winter coming in, and universities not bothering to heat the building, teams turning my potato work laptop into a furnace is the only thing keeping us warm this winter...
Serious question - is their long term strategy bad optimisation to sell hardware? Do they have shares in intel or something?!?
