This is going to be the funniest American presidential election ever.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 50 points 1 year ago (2 children)

There's still room for improvement. For example - Biden actually dies of old age and after a bruising battle - Kamala takes over.

Could get better if Trump has to run from prison and then hand over the Presidency to his VP after winning.

I'm very excited to live through "The Year of Four Presidents"

his VP

I wonder who that will be. My money is still on Nikki Haley. Although it would be much better if Trump went goblin mode and chose somebody like Kid Rock.

Sarah Palin, back for more

[–] D61@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago

Nope, she's too much of a loser and whiner. I could have seen Ann Coulter if she hadn't jumped on the "anybody but Trump train."

Biden dies, and hillary comes back for round 2

[–] Bnova@hexbear.net 3 points 1 year ago

Kamala's on the debate stage with Trump, Hillary then pushes her off the stage and takes her podium asserting herself as the alpha creton.

“The data does show some bright lights. In the early states, Trump polls at least 10 points below his national numbers,” said Chris Sununu, the Republican governor of New Hampshire and a critic of Mr Trump.

Man who has 40-50% of the total vote only has 30-40% of the vote in a contest where the next highest guy is lucky to break 15%.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 40 points 1 year ago (3 children)

r/politics likes to upvote articles that quote Sununu because he's always saying stuff like "The Trump Brand Just Doesn't Work".

[–] Magician@hexbear.net 19 points 1 year ago

I mean to be fair, trump was never president or able to incite violence at a government building.

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago

r/politics has issues with object permanence, so...

[–] footfaults@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's incredible because Sununu made his career during the Obama administration for saying some disgusting things. Fuck him

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago

It's amazing how easy it is for republicans to "rebrand" themselves and the libs accept it - lock, stock, and barrel.

“Why won’t our Republican friends understand that Trump is a criminal? Once ole donnie is behind bars, surely THAT will break the spell and definitely not drive these reasonable moderate Republicans into an orgiastic suicidal frenzy of destruction? America is like an airplane, it needs two wings, the Democrats and Republicans, to fly!” — libs

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 48 points 1 year ago

it needs two wings, the Democrats and Republicans, to fly!

How can Air USA fly with two right wings?

Luckily I took Journalism in high school. "News" is reporting of facts. News articles do not mention accusations, or supposition, or opinions - except reported as a fact, such as "Guiliani stated that people were unfairly attacking him". Not "People are unfairly attacking Guliani", which is opinion. Editorial, opinion, etc. are supposed (in newspapers) to be clearly stated as such. There is a big difference. The problem with Fox "News" is first that it calls itself "news" which is mostly false. Second, I do see some (surprising) actual news, but it's always during low viewership time periods. During any time there is significant viewership, it is nonstop opinion, editorial, etc. - and it is all one-sided. Heck, they've paid hundreds of $millions for outright lying to viewers. They are almost all right wing propaganda.

Even when they think they're being oppositional, liberals are completely helpless in the face of propaganda, the myths they tell themselves about objectivity leaves them unable to articulate any position that can't be reduced to vague credentialism

I watched 9/11 while I was in the Marine corps. I knew I was going to be deployed, away from family and friends. Maybe killed or maimed. It was an act of war on our homeland. I watched 1/6 and that was so much worse. It pissed me off so much more. It's our own citizens turning against our government, orchestrated by a traitor who shouldn't have been president, and should've been removed several times during his term. 1/6 was the worst event in modern history. Everyone associated with orchestrating it should be fully punished. Those who support it, I wish they could be punished as well.

We're in the middle of a fucking pandemic where people are still dying. But yes, Hog-Con was the worst thing to happen in recent memory.

This is the kinda worse case scenario for the state department because Republicans are well funded and protected by law in ways democrats aren't. If they disband nato, and do all the structural destruction like cut back on spending/ debt default for the administrative state. The hand of the deep state be forced to act in broad day light it would kick off a series of events that would severely diminish the power of the American empire and factions with in the state department and dod respectively would start to actively push agnist each other even more then up until this point.

That being said it reminds me of an old Lincoln quote where he says the only way we can destroy America is if Americans do it to them selves.

A lot of this is speculation and we don't know how far the liberal faction of the deep state is willing to go in the face of, exiting nato, recalling military bases, debt default, massive military budget cuts as a result of a chaotic debt default situation or Trump retaliation moment we have no idea if he is serious and would go that far.

Contingency: the one issue that is out of everyone's control and is the largest external threat to everyone is if one faction or another of the American deep state desides to start up a direct war with another nuclear power in order to 911 war on terror all the problems away.

An example, trump win then exits nato and helps the Republicans default on the national debt and he gets Kennedyed. The state blames it on China and we do war in Taiwan. War on terror style. This is the worst outcome for every country because of the nuclear question when the Americans take massive losses 📉 trying to take the island.

Or we have another 4 years of trump in the news and nothing really happens.

[–] GeorgeZBush@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

one faction or another of the American deep state desides to start up a direct war with another nuclear power in order to 911 war on terror all the problems away.

Would this even work at this point?

[–] Lucero@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago

I'll be real i don't think It could work, mostly because the Republicans of 2001 and then ones now are so far away from that moment of American post cold war triumphism that the nature of the conspiracy brained conservatives would call what ever cover story and the national security state faction wouldn't keep the lid on out of spite of the liberal faction. Trump in a lot of ways weaponized the right into a Greek tragity of the more you want to avoid a fate. You end up fulfilling it. The right wants to make America great again but ultimately have doomed it by trying to save it.

[–] circuitfarmer@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The thing is, it's not really about Trump or Biden anymore. People on all sides are fed up with the government, lack of representation, wealth disparity, and a whole host of other issues.

The I just want to watch the world burn vote is a thing, and it could be a reason for the wild fluctuations in polling recently.

[–] D61@hexbear.net 3 points 1 year ago

I actually saw a right wing super pack YouTube advertisement recently talking about how "If Trump runs the Biden wins. You wouldn't want that now, would you? Vote for one of the other right wing ass-hats to ensure Biden loses... and America wins"
