Donald Trump on Monday seemed to back away from his earlier commitment to debate Vice President Kamala Harris, questioning the value of a meetup and saying he “probably” will debate but he “can also make a case for not doing it.”

Trump, in an interview with Fox News Channel that aired Monday night, was pressed several times about committing to debating Harris before giving a squishier answer than he had in recent days.

The Republican former president had been eager to debate President Joe Biden when he was the Democratic nominee after months of suggesting that Biden was not mentally up for the matchup — or the presidency. But after Biden dropped out of the race and Harris became poised to be the Democratic presidential candidate, Trump has been questioning the terms of the original debate he agreed to with Biden. He has suggested the Sept. 10 debate on ABC News should be moved to a different network, calling ABC “fake news.”

Last week, in a phone call with reporters, Trump was asked if he’d commit to debating Harris at least once. He responded: “Oh yes, absolutely. I’d want to,” and said there was an obligation to debate.

He’s just so goddamn weird

His hair is so fucking weird— but not as weird as his weird makeup

[–] metallic_substance@lemmy.world 24 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Let's not forget the bizarre ass fake power-move way he shakes hands

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 15 points 3 months ago

Yes and also his patented weird jerking-off two men at the same time “dance”

And almost exclusively to 🎵YMCA🎵 So weird.

This whole "Trump is weird 'attack'" is so milquetoast. Austin is weird. The Guardians of the Galaxy are weird. Weird Al Yankovic is weird. Donald Trump isn't weird. He's a dangerous criminal being manipulated by the Russians. This is not the time to be silly.

[–] Gaspar@lemmy.dbzer0.com 45 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I get it. It's one of the most innocuous "attacks" you could make against someone, but it also seems like stuff that other people would find harmless is what really gets under his skin. Like, call him a fascist, a criminal, manipulated by the Russians (all of which are true) and he just makes that stupid, constipated grin and his base eats it up.

Talk about how weirdly tiny his hands are, though, and he'll make sure to run into you personally on the street, once a week, for the rest of his sad life, to show you that, actually, his hands are perfectly normal. Larger than average, even. His ego can't handle being considered strange or abnormal in any way.

So the idea is the "does she look tired to you" (credit to Doctor Who) attack. Something quiet, innocuous, maybe even whispered to someone else, that is almost guaranteed to make him rip out his hair plugs. Can't effectively parrot Russian propaganda if you're having a meltdown about people calling you weird. Maybe it'll be the thing that finally short-circuits his hateful black heart.

below average, or less-than normal, but he's completely fine being "the best" and "the greatest" in literally everything he talks about.

His head smashed in

And his heart cut out

And his liver removed

And his bowels unplugged

And his nostrils raped

And his bottom burnt off

And his Toad...

Sounds like he had dinner with the late, great Hannibal Lecter!

[–] wanderingmagus@lemm.ee 2 points 3 months ago

Nonsense, a refined gentleman like Hannibal Lecter would never sully his taste buds with such poor quality product!

Donald Trump says he will 'probably' shit his diapers today, but ‘can also make a case for not’.

[–] Today@lemmy.world 30 points 3 months ago

I want to debate because i like to call people names and be the center of attention, but i don't want to because she's an actual human and it will be obvious that I'm a giant gooey turd.

[–] hperrin@lemmy.world 28 points 3 months ago (1 children)

The case for not doing it: he’ll look like a fool.

Not for the undecided voters it isn't.

Now you could argue about the sanity, intellect or ignorance (not to mention, greed, fear, ego, etc.) of anyone who still can't choose between the two parties, but the whole thing could hinge on those people.

Don's hoping for the perfect cross-section of topics and debating techniques to come up where he's sure he will make Kamala look the bigger fool.

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 20 points 3 months ago

Keep being on the fence, indecisiveness actually makes a leader look rather weak.

Does his case for not debating her have anything to do with him pissing his pants?

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

Nope. His diaper was still fresh.

[–] bradorsomething@ttrpg.network 5 points 3 months ago

He looks so old, why is he even running.
