Xenia, the fox girl mascot of Linux, was first designed in 1996 by Alan Mackey. She was meant to be an alternative to Tux, the official mascot.

She had fallen into obscurity, but was noticed by a Twitter user in 2019 and was redrawn as a fox girl. But as it turned out, Xenia was originally meant to be male! The original creator, Alan, was cool with this, saying "It matches the transition of a lot of the smartest, nerdiest Linux users I know" and "And sure, you made her trans!".

So now we have a trans Linux mascot. And I think that's neat.

girl facts I wish I knew sooner: apparently the longer your hair gets, the LESS often you're supposed to wash it wtf. i thought i was supposed to wash it more. this probably explains why my hair is always going fucking everywhere

this is something people have different takes on but I'm in the boat of it's generally better to aim to not overwash your hair regardless of length. i shampoo around once a week, washing my scalp with just water or cowashing (conditioner only) keeps it happy in between. i would think shampooing every 2 or 3 days is excessive regardless of length. when you're trying to wash less there can be an adjustment period where you're a lil greasy but your oils adjust to the new routine and it's totally worth it.

interesting. here i have been washing it daily and then looking like albert einstein

noooooo lol definitely not every day ๐Ÿ˜ญ your hair will thank you if you try stretch that to at least a few days, like i said i find a week to be pretty doable after a minor adjustment period. and i have long curly hair. you can definitely use conditioner every day though and it helps with oiliness.

another tip I've picked up recently:

  • double washing is good on wash days, don't use double the amount of shampoo just start with a teeny tiny amount like pea sized and give your scalp a really quick scrub, wash it out and then do a normal wash. you'll get much more of a lather and i find it extends the amount of time you have until you need another wash. you can actually get away with using less shampoo overall this way too than a normal wash.

  • also if you have bangs (or even if you don't I guess) just washing the front of your hair with shampoo if it's greasy can buy you a few more days until a full wash. make sure to condition afterwards.

this tbh, i have curly hair and shampooing LESS (like once a week for me as well) helped make it a lot more un-un-ruly (ruly?). I condition every time i shower and use a bit of leave-in as well to keep the curls from frizzing since it's humid where I live.

I did not know that it was supposed to be washed more or less depending on length.

The more you know โœจ

apparently it's something to do with excess oils and how with more hair you need to rinse out the extra less often, i think it was

slapping a head of hair that hangs past your ass

This baby can fit sooo many oils in it

I have straight hair and probably wash it too much. Are you supposed to just get it wet and not add stuff? I think I heard someone irl suggest more shampoo less conditioner lol.
