I'm not gonna lie, I thought kamala would do better considering just how much support for her ive seen and how annoying libs have been.
I was fully preparing for another dem presidency after contested results
one of the many lessons from the last few years is that the Democrats (and by extension, America in general) is really good at portraying themselves as these invulnerable juggernauts full of momentum and energy and competency, but when it comes to actual results (whether that be in terms of warfare in Ukraine/Palestine, in economic impacts in terms of Russian/China sanctions, or other such things), it's revealed that the whole thing was actually just hot air and there was nothing of substance in retrospect
don't wanna definitively put the election in that category yet as it's not over yet but as we switch from Prediction Mode to Hindsight Mode, the result is becoming gradually less surprising.
even so, I am still pretty shocked at the result (assuming Trump takes it), though maybe in a few weeks it'll be like "well, duh, this was obvious and X analyst called it and nobody listened to them". it's easy to be like, wow, Harris lost because of the genocide and dissatisfaction among minorities towards Democrat racist/sexist policies, but like, Trump's campaign fucking sucked. compared to 2016, it was pretty juiceless.
There's been an article going arounmd about how the stop cop city movement getting blocked by the Atlanta government probably shut down one of the Georgia Dems strongest gotv machines.
Like, they straight up just chose cop fascism over democract and votes.
And there's probably lots of thos all over.
Before the DNC made her heir apparent, Kamala effectively had no base whatsoever. This is just a regression toward the mean.
Yeah. Like, 0 delegates in California during the 2016 primary... god damn was that sixteen wtf? And the Khive was just Neera Tanden and some dorks on Twitter. There was never any organic enthusiasm.
