I hate the welfare system here, it is so fucking terrible, doesnt give enough money to live, prevents you from working, and is impossible to get on cause its better to spend 5000 dollars to catch 20 dollars of fraud than just help people for some fucking reason (death to reagan, death to his memory, and may anyone who respects him get kicked in the face and pissed on)
friend is homeless and trying to get on disability and its a horrible and degrading process that she is being put through.
yes i've heard about even trying to get on it... when i was much less stable (outwardly, at least), i considered it, and my friends on disability started describing the process and i was like "oh god that is so horrible and degrading" ... i'm not going to traumadump here, but i hope it works out for them
Thanks, shes waiting to hear back and is pretty nervous about it.
I live in Alberta and even here there’s a slope so that you always have more money the more you earn, they don’t just count everything against your payments. I didn’t think it was possible to get less progressive than Alberta in Canada
huh, yeah i'm looking it up now for my place, and it seems like there is an amount you can make before they take it, so maybe i misunderstood? wonder if i misunderstood my friend then... (i am really really bad at math)
It may be that the slope is steep so that they get relatively little extra for hard they work, or that it’s a staggered system instead of a linear slope so if they earn like a dollar over a threshold they get their payments cut
