I tried that on Connect, and I'm unable to sign back in. I've been unable to use any apps with this instance for at least 2 days. The website seems to work ok weirdly but that's not ideal for me for accessibility reasons.
You can block instances on Connect but it doesn't prevent comments from appearing, only posts. Also currently this instance is having server issues, and I can't log into any apps right now, only via browser.

Also worth mentioning that if you have ADHD, you get those same protections. Idk how it is in Canada where OP is, but in the US, adult autism evaluations can be hard to obtain and insurance typically will fight coverage but ADHD evaluations are easier and usually covered.
After blocking most of the meme subs, I find it a pretty nice place.
