Their comments section just never fails to deliver ... something.

Online communities with reasonable debate are under attack by state actors, HN is no exception. In this context, no matter how well meaning the proposal is, opening an avenue for acrimony here is not something we can afford.

At least this dead hedge fund guy has a wikipedia "controversies" section as a legacy. I wonder if a genius mathematician could figure out a way to enrich his friends and family while the markets took a dump.

According to The Wall Street Journal in May 2009, Simons was questioned by investors on the dramatic performance gap of Renaissance Technologies' portfolios. The Medallion Fund, which has been available exclusively to current and past employees and their families, surged 80% in 2008 in spite of hefty fees; the Renaissance Institutional Equities Fund (RIEF), owned by outsiders, lost money in both 2008 and 2009; RIEF declined 16% in 2008.

I thought that the overproduction and heavy autotune was appropriate to the subject.

On topic:

"Tape machines ought to be big and cumbersome and difficult to use, if only to keep the riff-raff out."

Don't forget Tiffany. Chick got a 13 carat diamond engagement ring from her fellow lucky sperm club member billionaire husband.

His Twitter bio says that he's "helping a billion people." That's quite a flex!

Here's molly white's thread on nitter.

Passwords are in plain text. Payment information does not display credit card information. Payment information displays preferred payment method (e.g. PayPal, Credit Card, Debit Card) and currency used (e.g. CAD, USD).

People actually pay money for the fucking Post Millennial.

Did they claim the video was unedited Sora output?

This is the article that I read at launch:

Has generative video’s problem with faces and hands been solved? Not quite. We still get glimpses of warped body parts. And text is still a problem (in another video, by the creative agency Native Foreign, we see a bike repair shop with the sign “Biycle Repaich”). But everything in “Air Head” is raw output from Sora. After editing together many different clips produced with the tool, Shy Kids did a bunch of post-processing to make the film look even better. They used visual effects tools to fix certain shots of the main character’s balloon face, for example.

The Vatican could start a side hustle marketing vanity websites to Virginia tourism.

A conspiratorial, passive-aggressive fool in the YC comments is not making any claims, just saying that this might be a protection racket.

Mildly interesting that the author runs a media relations company in SF. On the one hand, I am sympathetic to the general perspective of the original article.

On the other hand, that the same person is writing “hit pieces” and running a media relations company bears a certain resemblance to protection rackets of yore

He really has been. His rants on the new podcast “Better Offline” are worth a listen.
