Reading Wikipedia, some of the side effects don't sound miserable: "contact with Dieffenbachia (typically from chewing) can cause a host of unpleasant symptoms, including …, excessive drooling, and localized swelling" Although most of them are less benign. Anyway, nice house plant, nicer body.
