In what country? In the USA, a lot of people don't read books unless it's required for school or work. If they do read for pleasure, it's often young adult, bs 'self help' (ie Rich Dad, Poor Dad), or shallow non fiction that reinforces what they already believe.

Where I live they keep cutting down forrests to put up generic looking 'mixed use' luxury condos. These usually have a first floor that has restaurants and 'boutique' stores (usually just someone scalping stuff from Etsy) that constantly fail.

I think that's called a 'limited hangout'. Admit to things you can't deny but obscure the intentions and severity. I also just don't like his writing style.
