I need 3 Grand Slam Chili Stampedes - one with extra onions, one with extra chili and extra onions, and one with extra chili and extra extra onions.

As you watch the results remember the "red mirage" - a well known phenomenon where Republican candidates take an early lead because Republican votes get reported early. This is simply because Republicans tend to live in smaller towns and low-population areas, which finish their vote counting sooner because there are fewer ballots. Democrats tend to live in denser urban areas that take longer to count, so their votes show up later; this is known as the "blue shift".

You can see the red mirage happening right now... 45 minutes ago Trump had 23 electoral votes and Harris 7. Now it's Trump 95 Harris 35. This should even out as the counts from the cities start to roll in.

Trump is planning to declare victory early in the night before the blue shift occurs, so his followers can turn off the TV and go to bed happy. Then when the final count shows Harris on top they will "know" the election was stolen because in their minds they "saw" him win.

Yes, in another comment I explained that many years ago I wrote a software package to map program functions to the F keys, which on my keyboard were arranged in 2 columns of 5 on the left. It was before putting them in a single row across the top became the standard. The software displayed a diagram showing the key functions, laid out in the same pattern as the physical keys. I found it very easy to get the hang of looking at this diagram and pressing the right button without looking at the keys. Each keypress brought up new options, basically a multilevel submenu system, but using the buttons was faster than moving a mouse around and clicking.

Of course the concept is very obsolete for normal computer keyboards because that f-key layout isn't around anymore. But if the device had the buttons right under the screen the key functions could be displayed above them. I could see that "soft buttons" concept becoming popular.

But anything "might" not be true. Telling someone not to believe it says you believe it's untrue.

Absolutely! This is so apropos!

LOL I don't even remember who Trump's VP was.

edit: oh yeah, Pence - who finally grew a pair after Bonespurs exhorted an unruly crowd to go get him.

It's popular enough for me already. I kind of hope it doesn't become the online site because that will just attract trolls.

I've also been using Trust Café (aka WT.Social) but I like the Lemmy UI a lot better.

I think we'll see multipurpose function buttons under the display, that change function programmatically depending on what the app is doing.

No I wouldn't say touchscreens are out, I would say augmenting them with physical buttons is about to get popular.

Buy a 3d printer and sell shit on eBay.

That's what I'm hoping for. Remember, it's normal for Repubs to take an early lead because so many of them live in wide open spaces, where counties have such low populations they finish their vote counts very quickly. Democratic votes from larger urban areas come in later. So if there is no such "red mirage" and Kamala takes an early lead, you can start celebrating because this will mean an almost certain win for her.

Not sure how I got to lemmy.one but when it said I had to login to comment on something, my userid/pwd that works here didn't work and the registration link said user registration is closed. Aren't lemmy logins supposed to work across the whole federation? Or are there multiple federations and lemmy.one is entirely different? Maybe I misunderstand the whole scheme of lemmy.

edit: Okay, after a little experimentation I think I get it. On the domain lemmy.world, when logged in, if I look at a thread I see the comment box, but if I go to lemmy.one and find the same thread it says I must login to comment. With the explanations everybody gave here, this makes sense now. So thank you very much, I appreciate the help!
