Assuming he doesn't have a red phone line directly to Batman like in the old TV show, obviously.

Plot twist: Gordon doesn't actually need the bat signal to contact him. It's there to drive fear to street criminals when they see the sign and think that the Bat is heading their way.

Also Gordon prefers talking to the man dressed like a bat on the rooftop rather than in his small office.

I thought The Batman showed that of really well actually, with the rober, vandals and similar in the beginning.

[–] mcherm@lemmy.world 32 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Wait for a passing blimp. Project the bat signal on the blimp.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Excellent idea!

In Gotham? it's always cloudy, and night time 95% of the time

[–] Lockheed@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago

2 helicopters holding up a bedsheet in the sky, and Gordon just shines the bat light on that.

[–] hutchmcnugget@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Fireworks in the shape of the bat signal

[–] KluEvo@wirebase.org 6 points 1 year ago

Nowaday, you could also use the drone method for a similar effect

[–] HotsauceHurricane@lemmy.one 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Pretty certain there’s an app for that.

It runs on OsmAnd

Wayne Enterprises maintains a cloud machine so their spoiled, good-for-nothing, CEO can always see at least 1 cloud when he looks out the windows of his manner house. Batman should really do something about that guy.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Batman doesn't care about corporate crime for some reason...

[–] Ragnell@kbin.social 10 points 1 year ago

He is on top of the police precinct, which is not the highest building in the city. All he needs to do is project it against the highest building in the city: Wayne Tower.

[–] Somsphet@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He just stands on the roof and yells.

Superman hears the yelling and send a text to Diana.

Diana writes a letter and gives it to Flash.

Flash starts breaking the speed limit.

Batman trips Flash, who then gives Batman the letter.

Really it's actually much faster then the batsignal, and Bruce Wayne has promised to pay for Superman's phone bill.

Supes on the family plan 💀

Batman actually maintains a remote link to the light itself. As soon as the switch is flipped, he gets notified.

Cmon, his lair is a CAVE. how the fuck is he gonna see the signal anyway?? Does he maintain 24/7 surveillance of the entire sky?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Does he maintain 24/7 surveillance of the entire sky?

He is Batman...

[–] skulblaka@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Does he maintain 24/7 surveillance of the entire sky?

Unironically, probably yes. Like half of all major comic book threats all come from outer space.

[–] ReCursing@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Alfred comes down the stairs and tells him

[–] SayJess@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I love the idea that there is IFTTT in the Batman universe! IFTTB, if you will. Web hooks ftw lol.

[–] red@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

The batsignal has often been described as a way to instill fear in the criminals, not as the most effective way to summon Batman per se. Certainly Batman doesn't just watch fhe sky all night long to wait for the batsignal to come up, he has ways to get notified without seeing it.

[–] habanhero@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

slide into his DMs obviously

[–] owatnext@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's 2023. He sends him a Snap.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You would think he would at least give the Commissioner the number to a one-time burner phone or something.

[–] skulblaka@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Batman whipping 300 random objects out of his utility belt trying to find which trap phone is ringing

It's either Gordon or Catwoman and he's only picking up for one of them

[–] SamXavia@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Send him a text "Where you at?"

[–] fubo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Sends him a message on Batrix, of course.

[–] Munkisquisher@lemmy.nz 3 points 1 year ago

The commissioner and his friend snoop take some huge rips and make their own clouds of gange that billow out into the sky. The commissioner forgets what all the fuss is about when batman turns up

[–] spizzat2@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

The batphone, obviously.
