Just wondered if there’s an update? The announcement made it seem like it was nearly ready but six months on there’s little publicly visible on sublinks.org?

I’m afraid that means little to me. Hopefully, someone can give an update.

I commented on the announcement a couple of weeks ago but there was no reply.

The announcement made it sound like sublinks was imminent but if you go to sublinks.org everything is still Coming Soon.

Does anyone have an update on the announcement?

I’m sorry but that also doesn’t make sense. This is what I see.

And then the next card is blank!

Please can someone just give a straightforward English update? It doesn’t have to be detailed just enough so I don’t give up.

The other issues are on the right:

Thank you for trying to help, I don’t know what 80% of that means or how it relates to an update.

I just don’t understand why there isn’t a simple straightforward update in plain English

The English translation is "they're still working on reaching feature parity with Lemmy".

Developing a platform like this is a lot of work and very technical. Communicating every step of the way to a non-technical audience would double the workload.

There's basically two types of projects: Those that are dead, and those that are not. The fact that it is still getting commits means it's in the latter category, and it'll be done when it's done.

It can be frustrating waiting for open source projects to progress, but part of what makes open source great is that you don't need to rush half-baked features in order to meet some corporate roadmap. :)

That may well be true, but sounds like general exposition. I should point out that I’m not requesting a detailed roadmap and I don’t think anyone requested communication every step of the way.

The initial announcement made it sound like launch was imminent. That was months ago and so I imagined (perhaps foolishly) there would be some sort of update posted and hoped it would be in plain English.

Edit: In fact at the time of the launch jgrim said to stay tuned for regular updates!

Yes, we make progress. As others already mentioned we have a roadmap and you see there our progress on specific issues.

https://github.com/orgs/sublinks/projects/1/views/6

Short Summary:

  • Parity is progressing good
  • Native Sublinks API is in the works
  • Federation and UI is in good shape too.

We didnt yet update sublinks.org yet because we wanted to do it after we are stable and not changing things on a daily basis.

Thank you.

Possibly add an update on the announcement post(that promised regular updates)?

Starting to wonder if it will ever release at this point
