doesn’t appear to have the security clearance required to actually read the report’s redacted findings

why act as a responsible and properly informed leader, when you can just put your head in the sand and speculate to rile up the voter base instead.

Conservative thrive on people's ignorance. Educated people don't vote for conservatives.

Educated sociopaths do.

He can be uninformed and still satisfy everything his base requires. Mission accomplished with no background check.

Jinkies!....I wonder what it could be...What a mystery, Scoob!

I’d bet money that PP also is unsure as to whether he can actually get the clearance or doesn’t want to disclose what is required to get the clearance. At that level you need to disclose your assets and liabilities, previous convictions/criminal charges if any and go through a security interview. It makes me wonder what he is hiding financially or otherwise. Do we want a PM that can’t even get a high level clearance ffs?

I don't think it's that complicated. If he has security clearance, there are certain things he can't say. If he doesn't have it, he can complain all day long about how the Liberals are hiding information. The guy has been in the public sector since he graduated, there aren't too many secrets there.

He should get a security clearance IF HE CAN!!!!

[–] LostWon@lemmy.ca 1 points 7 months ago

He should, and he can, but he doesn't.

So why did all cons vote for it though? That's what I'm confused about with this whole thing

So what's he going to do when/if he is Prime Minister? I would hope he still needs the security clearance.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 16 points 7 months ago (1 children)

He does

The presumed reason he is currently refusing is so he can complain about matters/make things up. If he knows classified information then he can’t disclose it

Exactly. He is well in the lead while not having a security clearance. Getting that clearance actually makes campaigning a bit more of a challenge for him. It's friggin' devious but it's working. Say what you will about polls but the wind sure looks to be blowing in a different direction these days.
