why act as a responsible and properly informed leader, when you can just put your head in the sand and speculate to rile up the voter base instead.
Conservative thrive on people's ignorance. Educated people don't vote for conservatives.

He can be uninformed and still satisfy everything his base requires. Mission accomplished with no background check.
