Until I read someone mentioning them on Facebook, but the comment was removed shortly after.

What are these apps, and are they really good and usable on a Fire Stick TV Lite? Is the content they provide comparable to the top online streaming watch online (pirate) websites?

I was going to sell the fire stick and use my PC with an HDMI cable, but I may think twice now.

I don't have fire stick. But previously used kodie in a bunch of devices. Strmio is 100% better.

It doesn't have as many customisations, but it just works. And has no delays.

Either app get premiumize and for stremio follow a guide to get the right addons.

Best option I have found is cloudstream though you might have to search a bit for the repos.

Recently switched to cloudstream from stremio and it seems the selection is much better. The only problem is sometimes it keeps buffering.

This is what I use. The hexated repo has some good sources, Sorastream is the one I've used the most.

I recently tried streamio on firestick, the app worked great in terms of ui and responsiveness but the services it connected to never worked. 5 was on it by default and each allowed me to browse movies and series but when i attempted to watch them it returned an error or buffered forever. I also tried with and without a vpn to see if that affected it. Personally the way that still works best for me is using a browser such as sideloading firefox and then visiting the websites using a vpn like you would on a laptop

Edit: while im here, sideload the newpipe apk. Amazing frontend for youtube

Try the smarttube app for YouTube. It's way more optimized for TV.

I just wish Smarttube would support Piped instances - that would 100% complete the puzzle for me. Being able to use Piped on my streaming stick.

They are ok, you get links of 720p 1080p, they work better if you have a debrid account to get even more links. Not sure how good they run on the fire stick lite, I use them on the fire stick 4k and they run very good.

without debrid do they work, even low quality?

[–] rolofox@lemmy.zip 3 points 6 months ago

Yes they are actually pretty good, you just have to find what link work better for you.its a trial am error but once you know what provider works better it's all good

Exclusive to firestick? Any run on Shield?

[–] Tenkard@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 months ago

Fire stick and the shield are both android devices so you can just install whatever you want

I just use Kodi with the Crew addon

It’s a bitch to get set up properly, but it gets the job done

Alternatively, you can always just go to a streaming site using the fire stick’s web-browser.
