May I present the Universal (Univershell. Ugh.) logo from the 1994 Flintstones movie, one of the worst, if not the worst, movies I have ever had to sit through in a theater.

This is some very inconvenient evidence.
Pops is that you?
I'm only 46! Give me at least a decade before you start calling me Pops.
Matrix 4.
I think sometimes the studio thinks “this is going to be a massive movie, let’s pay someone to make a different studio credit to show how massive and special it is”, but all massive movies don’t end up being that special.
oh shit I completely forgot this movie existed (I have not see it and don't plan too), it's for real?
It's worth a watch, but it is entirely forgettable. I remember exactly one scene from it and none of the plot.
I expected nothing of that movie, and I was still disappointed.
Great movie! Absolutely fits the hypothesis.
I buy this. At the very least they are interesting movies.
Evidence for: Constantine and JCVD Evidence against: Waterworld.
To be fair, though, the greatness of the Universal logo as a flooded world almost makes up for the whole movie. So yes, thesis proved.
Waterworld is a great movie. Not evidence against
It had some amazing stunt work. Plus Jack Black flew a plane.
Story was meh, but I like the camp in my movies. Especially campy dystopia.
But, I love The Postman.
I'm feeling sorry for all the people in this thread who saw Waterworld while being attacked by fire ants or something.
I have no other explanation for not adoring the masterpiece that is Waterworld.
Napoleon Dynamite, comes to mind. I love their intro credits!
Do Wes Anderson films count? I love how the cast is introduced in The Royal Tenenbaums.
I submit Harry Potter as evidence.
I think the theory can just be that the studio has a lot of confidence in the movie. They may be wrong sometimes.
Can add both spiderverse movies to the list.
Thank you for your work on this important research.
Waterworld is a tough one, because I would personally say that the theatrical cut is not great. However, the Ulysses Cut really changes the film and makes it much better, but it's a fanedit. How does that affect this?
I've since realised that my research is missing important parameters. Obviously, it would be foolish to try to consider all films ever made, and so I think it best if I narrow my focus to films made since 1996. This isn't an arbitrarily chosen date, and the fact that it means that both Waterworld and The Flintstones will be excluded is merely a unfortunate coincidence.
Understandable. 26 years is a nice round number; clearly not arbitrary.
I dunno. Waterworld is a masterpiece. You sure you watched it in science-ready conditions?
Fair point. I approached it from a subjective space.
In that space, I highly recommend the Ulysses Cut.
But there may be a scientifically valid case for the theatrical cut. Do you have it?
IIRC The Simpsons movie has Ralph Wiggum doing the 20th Century Fox fanfare
And that movie came out 2007, not 1989 when the series started (as OP has in the post)
Changed now. I'm a doofus.
As to the first, it's not the Simpsons, but may be either Alpine for You (Popeye short, 1951) or The Mouse That Roared (1959). If you don't want to go down a rabbit hole for many hours, do NOT click the following link. This was the result of great obsession, and I'm very impressed. Good luck on your dataset!
I'm starting to think I can't compete. Thanks for the link, though.
You shouldn't disprove evidence that is contrary to your hypothesis. The data is just as valid as the supporting evidence.
The intro to The Incredibles 2 is changed for the movie. Not a bad movie, just another one to consider.
Also, kung fu panda.
I think the sequals to Kung Fu panda were not too good.
Bobs Burgers is a fantastic movie.
Deadpool and Deadpool II did a lot of fun stuff with the opening credits.
