I love the idea of federation, but there is one major issue with it. I have my account on Lemmy.world and have been browsing through Lemmy.world for a bit now. There is only one thing stopping it from being a smooth experience.

Sometimes, when I click on links, it will take me to another Lemmy instance. When this happens, I have to manually type in the URL on Lemmy.world instead. Is there a browser extension that automatically redirects other Lemmy instances to the Lemmy instance you specify (the one your account is on)?

Someone’s working on a browser extension to solve this painpoint - it sounds like it’ll work with multiple instances, and not just kbin.social: https://beehaw.org/post/493791

You can also use relative links, but it's less intuitive than the default links

I can't quite remember how and the instance where I figured it out shut down, but it's on a github issue if you search for it

Links should be created as relative links with the host server at the end like: [ErgoMechKeyboards](/c/ergomechkeyboards@lemmy.world)
This wil result in a link like this: ErgoMechKeyboards

Thank you, that's super helpful.
