Former President Donald Trump suggested Tuesday that at least half a dozen names are on his vice presidential shortlist — a list ranging from South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.

During a Fox News town hall event, host Laura Ingraham asked Trump about six possible choices for his running mate: DeSantis, Scott, biotech entrepreneur and former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and Gabbard.

Being on the Short List comes naturally to DeSantis....

[–] teft@lemmy.world 20 points 9 months ago (2 children)

He would smack you in the face for that insult...if he could reach that high.

[–] thesporkeffect@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

The pudding stains are hard to get out unless you treat them immediately. Just a heads up

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 3 points 9 months ago

Be careful, he can still smack you. I'd say he could reach about Thai high.

[–] Gazumi@lemmy.world 23 points 9 months ago (1 children)

He's getting the three of them drooling and working harder than ever to be his bitch. None of them matter to him.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 13 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Honestly I’m suspicious that’s what he’s going for. He might just string them along so they embarrass themselves, and then just select some psychotic Christian nationalist at the last moment just as a “fuck you”.

My money is on him trying to be his own vp.

That, or one of his kids

[–] ganksy@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I think there is a zero chance he would have Ron as a VP.

Which is a big part of why I said what I said lol

“We’re getting the banned back together.”

[–] crazyCat@sh.itjust.works 16 points 9 months ago

Sounds like my grandma’s recipe for cuck casserole.

I hope it's Vivek considering how thoroughly unlikable he is, but I'll take "DeSanctimonious" if for no other reason than to regularly point out how much time Trump spent belittling DeSantis in every way he could think of.

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago (1 children)

DeSantis clearly has a shame/degradation kink if he gets and accepts the VP position.

[–] orbit@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago (2 children)

True, but he also can't run in Florida again so I could see it.

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

He does have nothing to do till he can run for a Senate seat.

Well, unless they change the state constitution to remove the term limits. That would require 60% of Floridans to vote to change the state constitution, but they banned gay marriage in the state constitution over a decade ago so there's always been at least 60% of Floridans being hateful shits.

So... it's going to be Tim Scott.

Trump knows that both Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramasamy explicitly positioned themselves as Trump 2.0 but he's too insecure to elevate anyone who might threaten him - or his attempts to create a dynasty - Vivek might skate by on being a sniveling bitch-boy but DeSantis has actual national recognition and occasionally steals Trump's spotlight.

[–] Dkarma@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

Nah it's gonna be that swamy tongue in trumps ass that convinces him. Ron will never grovel like Vivek and Tim Scott...well let's face it trump is racist AF....Scott is floated as a joke. Just like when Trump said he was pro lgbt

Calling a Sarah Pailin 2.0

  • He leans towards aesthetic over skills in lawyers, press secretaries etc
  • He would be smart to pick someone young to counter age
  • would not want to be upstaged with a career politician who might have ambitions.
[–] LocoOhNo@lemmus.org 8 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Don't forget, before he was attacking Disney and allowing actual Nazis with swastika flags to march outside of Disney World, DeSantis was lying about "training" Navy Seals in Iraq and torturing people in Guantanamo.

[–] skozzii@lemmy.ca 2 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

In fairness to Ron, the Navy Seals have saved tens of dollars on spoons since he has taught them how to eat pudding with their fingers, eliminating the need for cumbersome spoons.

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Trump and Mini-Trump. What a duo.

[–] GiddyGap@lemm.ee 1 points 9 months ago

So, a ticket to hell.

[–] Kit@lemmy.blahaj.zone -4 points 9 months ago

Tulsi Gabbard would be an interesting and surprising pick. She could draw a lot of independent votes.
