I'm loving how each post is some variation of an idiot trying legal sorcery without understanding what the fuck they are doing.

"I tried the ritual of self ascribing my origin and PERSONHOOD scrolls but the clerk didn't accept them and the CEO is ignoring me, in clear violation of the Foreign Commerce and Export act of 1799 as enacted by the original 13 colonies. I need a paralegal to show me where I went wrong!"

[–] altasshet@lemmy.ca 51 points 9 months ago

I need a paralegal to show me where they went wrong!

I just want to point out that international drivers permit is actually a thing. But somehow I doubt that's what this jackass tried to present.

Source: I have one.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 14 points 9 months ago

This jackass probably tried to present his divine authority card, which is a thing sovcits do.

[–] ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.de 10 points 9 months ago (2 children)

What that should do, in my opinion, is only permit you to drive internationally, still requiring a passport to cross borders. The lack of a universal ID card is pretty much unique to the US, and they should get it sorted out instead of using driver's licenses (not everyone is or should be able to drive!) and the incredibly dangerous SSN system.

[–] Hagdos@lemmy.world 18 points 9 months ago (10 children)

It's not even that. I have one, but it's little more than a translation card with a fancy-looking stamp. You still need the original drivers license with it for it to be legal

[–] ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.de 11 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

So... you still need a passport to cross borders?
*Laughs in Schengen* (we legally only need ID cards and they are not checked on most borders anyway, and each country's driver's licenses work in each other)

There are non-driver IDs that are equivalent to a driver's license, but don't allow you to drive. The real issue is that these are state IDs. We don't have any national form of ID besides SSN and passport

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Yay for “RealID”? Let’s take the worst of both worlds: state issued ID that has to be compliant as a federal ID and be backed by data infrastructure to agglomerate it all to effectively a national ID

I thought all driver licenses were international. What am I missing? I've been able to rent ~~cats~~ cars with my driving lisence in any country that I have visited

[–] Im_old@lemmy.world 15 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

First of all, really funny typo, I didn't know you could rent cats! Second: it depends. In EU the national license is international across EU. ~~But in UK (thanks brexit) I think now (or soon) you'll be required an international driving permit to drive in EU with a UK licence.~~ I was wrong, things changed since last time I checked, thanks for correcting me.

It's really down to the agreements between countries in the end

[–] NavalExplorer@sh.itjust.works 5 points 9 months ago

You can use your UK licence in the EU without any issue, they got an agreement on that.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 4 points 9 months ago

It depends on what license you have. Some countries have agreements that licenses are interchangeable but realistically they never can be because traffic laws will be different in different parts of the world.

[–] Bitrot@lemmy.sdf.org 50 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Guarantee someone replied with some form that has to be signed in red pen.

And they can tell if you are 0.3 degrees off so be careful, measure twice!

"Some say COVID stands for Certificat..."

Oh boy.... here we go. WTF could this even mean and how tf could possessing that super secret information that somehow every FB rando knows all about even remotely help op's self inflicted dilemma. It's so bizarre how they think.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago

I'm more curious about the copper millstone.

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 8 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Some say COVID stands for Certificate of Viral Infection Degradation. Meaning it is a disease that can make you sick. The 19 at the end usually stands for the year it was discovered.

"I have my own librsry maybe I can"

No, Ella, having two bookcases in your living room does not count.

[–] Potatos_are_not_friends@lemmy.world 23 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I was thinking the same thing!

I want to see what advice these idiots are getting!

Although I haven't flown since the Real ID mandates, I've shown up to an airport without my ID and was able to board. There was some additional screening. Like if you've ever tried to do a hard credit pull online and they ask you questions like "which of the following vehicles did you own three years ago" style questions.

It was a pain but I made it.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

You didn't have nifty fake sovcit passport though.

Opportunity to say that I also had this happen but it happened to my sibling who got their wallet stolen on vacation. They were a lot younger at the time so it was one heck of a thing to get on the plane. 30+ minutes each time just for TSA.

Then they’d take them separately to ask questions. Only problem is, they had no idea what the answers were to 90% of them.

“What car do you drive?”

“Uh I think it’s a Toyota”

”Whats mom’s birthday?”

”Its in November”

”Whats your neighbors name?”

”No clue, but he’s old”

”What year did you graduate high school?”

”Im not sure, I think 2019?”

It was a miracle we made it home.

[–] son_named_bort@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Have the real ID mandates taken effect yet? I feel like the feds keep pushing the deadline back.

[–] Euphorazine@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

Guess not. Looks like it's now scheduled to May 2025

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 16 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I'm surprised they don't have a "Passport of the Person" or some bullshit like that.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 27 points 9 months ago (5 children)
[–] Daxtron2@startrek.website 17 points 9 months ago (1 children)

The fact they owe 10k in child support is just icing on the shit cake

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago

And seem to think that's not a big deal.

[–] Granite@kbin.social 14 points 9 months ago

I wish I weren’t held back by a moral code. How much money can be made duping these fools.

Or I could pretend it’s a World PassportTM, but it’s really a cult deprogramming guide

[–] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 13 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Ha that makes me wonder how the SovCit scammers handle it when their marks try to pay with their pretend money, as it seems like this post might have done.

I see the form is asking for specific payments, but how do they turn them down without breaking the illusion when they insist they take their coupons or whatever?

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 8 points 9 months ago

They probably see it as "supporting the cause" which EVERYONE knows is more respectable than supporting your children.

[–] WelcomeBear@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

They have a really nice office, must be legit.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

Nice looking building though.

[–] Crack0n7uesday@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago

If you wanna be a dick about the status of your citizenship by all means go and do it, but I won't take any argument from a deadbeat parent seriously no matter what you're arguing. I'm just going to think you need to pay your child support and your an idiot until you do.

[–] vexikron@lemmy.zip 14 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Please tell me someone guided him to the DMV.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)
[–] vexikron@lemmy.zip 10 points 9 months ago

Oh dear lord.

Yes ma'am, the labels here, here and here on my anti depressant, anti psychotic and heart condition pill bottles are actually valid and equivalent to a passport to all other countries in the world, and no, I am not crazy.

Yep. Im sure that will work well. JFC.

[–] Granite@kbin.social 9 points 9 months ago (1 children)

These posts are giving me life

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 5 points 9 months ago

I'm so glad because I have hundreds of these lol.

[–] Everythingispenguins@lemmy.world 9 points 9 months ago

Well if he had gotten the fake IDs with the Real ID star he would have been fine.

[–] Therealgoodjanet@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago
