A community dedicated to the universe of Warhammer 40k, a tabletop setting in the far, distant future.

This is a general community for 40k miniatures, art, lore discussion, and gameplay discussion.

Rules

  1. Keep it civil.
  2. No memeposts/shitposts. Memes are great but direct them to grimdank.
  3. Please mark any posts containing realistic nudity or realistic excessive gore/violence as NSFW; this rule mainly applies to cosplay and realistic drawings rather than miniatures. Being that 40k is inherently violent, this is a judgement call, and mods may occasionally request posters add tags.
  4. No political or social cause agenda pushing.

Below are my Salamanders WIP:

Just getting back into 40K over the past month or so. I haven't played or painted since waaaay back in 4th edition when I was younger. Used to play Ultramarines and decided I wanted to be just slightly different this time around. It's been really neat to see how much the game and models have changed since 4th. Back then YouTube wasn't really a thing yet either so it's been immensely helpful in figuring things out.

This is the Starter Set plus Eradicators in the back. I'm trying sub-assemblies for the first time with the Eradicators, might have made things harder on myself by choosing the option with the backpack cables but we'll see.

Waiting on the rest of my paint to arrive so I'll post more once I've made progress!

I'm in a similar boat, Played very briefly as a broke kid, but mostly just lusted after models. My coworker convinced me to get back into it, so now I'm have a Death Guard Combat patrol all built, just need to get some primer on them to start getting them painted!

I look forward to seeing some WIP photos on the Salamanders!

And hopefully I can get some WIP photos of the death guard!

I've been working on my Triumph of Saint Kathrine now for a few weeks. I feel done with the base, but still a lot of work left with the rest of the girls. This is my first army. And my first goal is to have a 1000pts army done within the next 2 months and play 2 more games, played 1 so far (win against dark angels, both of us being beginners). Also already painted a Penitent engine, Sob unit, exorcist, Palatine, Dialogus, Celestine, 5 Repentias and 3 Arcos. Left to paint on my list is: Castigator, Rhino, 10 Seraphim, 2 Crusaders and a Callidus Assassin. But damn! It takes me forever to paint all these million details!!

Does the Coat De Arms live up to the hype?

[–] Doctor_Spork@sopuli.xyz 2 points 9 months ago

I like them, but I'm not too fussy about my paints. Some of the colours come out really nice an vibrant, the red and turquoise on this model are both Coat De Arms.

They are a lot like the citadel paints from the late 80s, although I'm not sure that is a good thing for most folks. Compared to modern paint they are quite thin and need at least two (often more) coast to get decent coverage.
