unironically, transportation needs to be divorced from all the weird psychomarketing baggage it has picked up. carbrains have gone completely insane wrt size, power, speed etc. beyond all practical justification

[-] HumanBehaviorByBjork@hexbear.net 35 points 10 months ago

disagree. what we need to do is invert the size complex. i wanna see cars get smaller and cuter without regard for safety or practicality.

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:

If a big truck means you have a small dick what does a bicycle mean?

I just want a car with good lumbar support for the seats

I didn't notice this was AI generated picard

[-] renatadeux@hexbear.net 21 points 10 months ago

cars serve a purpose and a centralized rental authority in every district would make a lot of sense. while carbrain is a thing, we must never lose sight of the fact that capital gets what it wants in liberal democratic societies and a society in which rail and trolley and tram is replaced by cars represents a society in which capital has determined there is enough wealth to exploit to enforce transport costs upon the individual even upon workers (as in they know they do not risk loss of productivity).

anybody who has sat in the same traffic day after day and month after month knows that they're essentially on a train, it's just that the state has decided they must pay for their own train car and the other choice is waking up at 3:45am to get to work at 8am

little short range electric pod cars to rent first come first serve at the terminus of HSR or commuter trains in rural areas to put around and sightsee

[-] KhanCipher@hexbear.net 4 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Tell me you don't live in a rural area without telling me you don't live in a rural area.

I'm not trying to be an ass or anything, but I live in a rural "city" and I feel this kind of solution would just barely work, if at all. You're still looking at nearly everyone out here needing their own personal vehicle. Like yeah cars ruin big cities, but for the most part the only thing cars really did for rural areas was just replace the horse and cart. Especially since I'm pretty sure a lot of railroads were closing down and or merging together for a variety of reasons long before the advent of cars and carbrain.

absolutely not, no. 1790s guys did not have a 1 hour horse cart commute, this is carbrain applied retroactively to the past

If we limit most cars to 40 km/h just think of all the silly designs that would no longer be deemed unsafe!

[-] Rojo27@hexbear.net 18 points 10 months ago

Aww what a cute fella.

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 18 points 10 months ago

Not gonna lie I love this.

[-] PurrLure@hexbear.net 17 points 10 months ago

I know it's an AI generated car, but it's kinda cute.

I wonder if that extra glass dome space up top would double as storage space for things like groceries.

[-] Grandpa_garbagio@hexbear.net 9 points 10 months ago

It would get so fucking hot in there during the summer

[-] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 9 points 10 months ago

You can cook your groceries and have a hot snack while driving 😋

[-] Crowtee_Robot@hexbear.net 15 points 10 months ago

The car is just a cute little frog guy FrogPog

[-] wtypstanaccount04@hexbear.net 10 points 10 months ago

This might be AI but the Peel P50 Trident sure isn't

[-] ashinadash@hexbear.net 9 points 10 months ago

I always thought the Zastava Yugo and the Fiat 126p were pretty rad. Ditto the VAZ 2105...

[-] milicent_bystandr@lemm.ee 8 points 9 months ago

You have finally win me over. I now live for communism, and die happy.

[-] xXthrowawayXx@hexbear.net 8 points 10 months ago

No unless there’s an insane new industrial method that lets you make domed automotive glass like that for like zero dollars.

[-] impiri@lemm.ee 8 points 9 months ago

You get a color at random from the capsule machine, and they’re all perfect

[-] SnowComrade@hexbear.net 8 points 10 months ago
[-] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 7 points 10 months ago

They're actually historically fash. They made a lot of planes for the imperial army in WWII. Granted, most governments will order corporations to do stuff during war, but Mitsu used slave labor and committed a lot of atrocities IIRC.

[-] HumanBehaviorByBjork@hexbear.net 8 points 10 months ago

this is a car i'd drive if i was a silly lil fella

[-] Tiocfaidhcaisarla@hexbear.net 7 points 10 months ago

This is the cutest way to die

[-] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 7 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

That doesn't look like it'd survive up here during the half-year we're frozen.

Edit: also screw Mitsubishi. I'll never buy from those fascists

[-] Kynuck97@hexbear.net 2 points 9 months ago

Lucky for you, this is actually a "Mitubishi".

[-] Red_Sunshine_Over_Florida@hexbear.net 7 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

That car looks a bit like the time machine from little-remembered Pixar movie Meet the Robinsons.

[-] Nagarjuna@hexbear.net 4 points 10 months ago

Meet the Robinsons

Wasn't this a pre-pixar Disney release?

Probably. I forgot there was a period when their partnership lapsed before they just bought it.

[-] D61@hexbear.net 6 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

All I can see if the sound the Jetson's flying car makes...

Also... there's no windshield wiper...

[-] Antiwork@hexbear.net 4 points 10 months ago

Jetsons vibes

[-] Lydia@hexbear.net 4 points 10 months ago
[-] gon@lemm.ee 4 points 10 months ago

I know this is a joke but I find it to be rather upsetting, on several levels. I strongly dislike this image.

Also, this car reminds me of Meet the Robinsons.

It was just meant as a joke! Maybe I have an odd sense of humour, sorry about that. I think it's AI though so I guess that's what's wrong with it... (?)
