People from Boston would hate me.

I apologize for nothing.

In Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, there is an episode based on Lovecraft called Pickman's Model. It has Crispin Glover doing a heavy Boston accent. It's fantastic.

I loved that series.

But I had to skip del Toro's weird ramblings before each episode.

Agree! I love his works dearly! And the new netflix show is fantastic! But man oh man does his ramblings about almost anything get really really weird.

Pappy McPoyle: Those were my boys sprung from my loins, fully formed! One of them babies tried to eat me! I ate him first! I ate him first!

All I can think of is Mayor Quimby from the Simpsons as a cultist.

"Cthulhu ah... R'lyeh wgah'nagl.. er, ah... fhtagn!"

How about his nephew Freddy?

"Wait a minute. Come here. What did you call it? Say it loud enough so everyone can hear. Come on. Say it."

"Sh'thulair"

"Sh'thulair? Sh'thulair? It's C'thulah, say it right."

Is this like Shakespeare being a brummie ?

Idk why but whenever anyone tries to write words to make them sound like a Boston accent all I hear is Kyle's cousin Kyle from South Park

[–] Goblin_Mode@ttrpg.network 2 points 1 year ago

That's funny because anytime I hear Kyle's cousin Kyle from south park it reminds me of Boston lmao

We don't know for sure if that's what they sounded like because there's very little evidence to suggest that Boston was even real.

This is true. And cursed. Perfection.

Might be taking it too far with a Peter Griffin laugh.

Aarakocra don't have lips & couldn't make "m", "p" & "b" sounds.

[–] Stamets@startrek.website 17 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well, first off, Aarakocra are a fantasy race so what they can and can't say is a bit loosey goosey to begin with. But if you want to use realism, they could likely still make those sounds. Ravens can. Parrots can. A multitude of birds can and none of them have lips.

[–] zombiecalypse@feddit.ch 8 points 1 year ago

You'd think that, but you'd be wrong. Birds can make a lot of sounds that should be impossible, for example this raven likes to say boop

In my experience all the characters have ridiculous yank accents in movies, no exception here.
