If this is a Palestine analogy shouldn’t you be breaking into his home and locking the man in his own basement?

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 60 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Holy shit it's a really good fucking post from a federated account

Yeah but like what if OP REALLY REALLY liked that guy's house? Then he definitely deserves it, the guy in the basement is just being entitled tbh.

EDIT: I misread the above post. My mistake.

[–] underisk@lemmy.ml 38 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I am absolutely not trying to both sides anything here. I meant that Israel is taking over the Palestinian house and putting the Palestinians in their own basement. Unless I’ve completely misinterpreted the analogy or something here.

EDIT: It seems I misread you. My mistake.

[–] raven@hexbear.net 25 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Unless this user has been susposting lately I think you might have this one backwards. I think they're saying "I agree with everything except the implication that Israel owns the 'house'in the first place."

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 17 points 1 year ago

I misread the post. My mistake.

[–] underisk@lemmy.ml 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Okay I’m not in any way trying to condemn Palestine for fighting back here. I was trying to point out that the reality is actually worse than the analogy implied but either I’ve done so clumsily or completely misread the analogy. Either way, just to be explicitly clear: fuck Israel.

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I misread the post. It was my error.

[–] underisk@lemmy.ml 21 points 1 year ago

No problem, if you misread it someone else probably did too and I would absolutely not want anyone to mistake me for supporting Israel.

[–] SerLava@hexbear.net 15 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I really dont think he's both sidesing, he's just also saying the hostage taker also stole the house

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 14 points 1 year ago

I misread it, and edited accordingly.

[–] sooper_dooper_roofer@hexbear.net 15 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I'm a both sideser
Both sides of the border wall must come down

[–] h3doublehockeysticks@hexbear.net 18 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

What are you doing dude. The person is saying that the analogy of locking someone in your basement is inadequate because Israel STOLE THE BASEMENT. That's not both sidesing.

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago

It seems I misread it. My mistake.

[–] daisy@hexbear.net 61 points 1 year ago

Obviously you need to murder him and then murder all the kids you've still got locked up in your basement. If he didn't want those kids to get murdered, he shouldn't have tried to get out of the basement.

[–] SovietyWoomy@hexbear.net 43 points 1 year ago

The man in your basement should have accepted your peace offer and stayed in the basement. The tragedy he has caused must not go unavenged. Have you considered leveling your neighborhood because the man is probably hiding there?

[–] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 39 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If only the man locked in the basement peacefully expressed discontent by softly moaning and whimpering, but not so loud that he scared anyone on ground level, maybe you would have been kinder to him eventually. ![liberalism](https://www.hexbear.net/pictrs/image/301c12fe-4eda-4a2b-ac71-c39c57d39c2d.png "emoji liberalism")

[–] SoyViking@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago

What a vile, disgusting thing to say in these times where innocent civilians are being attacked! Moaning softly is accoustic terrorism and is literally the moral equivalent of Hitler.

[–] adultswim_antifa@hexbear.net 37 points 1 year ago

I'm going to send a carrier to your home to back you up while you murder him and all those shitty kids you have locked in there. Do you need any money?

[–] uralsolo@hexbear.net 34 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I support you but also I worry that other people supporting you too much will reduce the amount of support I receive against my own nightmare housemate (he got all weird when I started putting historical posters on the walls and now the neighbors are involved).

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 33 points 1 year ago

That's just like harry potter

Wait, maybe we can reach libs with this

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 32 points 1 year ago

You have the right to defend yourself from this completely unprovoked attack by any means necessary.

[–] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 32 points 1 year ago

We stand with you in the face of this terroristic behavior.

I mean i get that they might feel aggrieved, but that's not the way to make their case to the world.

[–] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 30 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I hope that he and you can set aside your weapons and realize that you actually have a lot in common. Now is the time for healing.

[–] impiri@lemm.ee 26 points 1 year ago

Look, obviously, I support you unconditionally. The important thing for everyone to remember here is that I am going through some real shit with my neighbor right now

Depends, is the man muslim?

[–] HexbearGPT@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

The attack on Israel was the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust!

Much like the attack on General Custers troops was the worst attack on the USA since the Jamestown Massacre!

But of course the architects of oppression aren't the ones who face the consequences. So it would be more like the man in your basement killed your family who you didn't love anyway and whose deaths you will use to justify locking up and killing more people.

[–] MF_COOM@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago

It drives me crazy that people are so concerned about the freedom of Israeli hostages like their freedom is so obviously more vital than the freedom of the millions of imprisoned Gazans.

[–] qaopjlll@hexbear.net 5 points 1 year ago

You need to find everybody who lives in the same neighborhood as the man you kidnapped, and kidnap all of them and lock them all in your basement, just in case any of them are also planning an unprovoked attack against you. Also stop providing food and water to the others you already have chained up.
