inb4 Reddit introduces paid “super upvotes” and “super downvotes” so you can just do +5 or -5 on a post or comment

also, I would fully support a meh vote option that randomly rolls a +0.5 or a -0.5

This conjured images of Tinder’s super swipes

i totally could see reddit attempting something like that especially with the removing awards.

an even grosser implementation would be 2 sets of upvotes and downvotes. Premium vs free ones.. my god it sounds like discord nitro and tinder premium had a baby

Can't wait for the 'testicular examination' voting option to be added to Lemmy

If it was a 3rd voting option that had a 0.5 weighting, I think it would be interesting

Absolutely, would be fantastic

To be honest, I've always felt like ratings systems needed a "thumbs sideways" option. Like a "meh" or "it's okay" or even "it's kind of good, but has flaws that bring it down".

Youtube for instance really could use a thumbs sideways button. Many sites that show longer form artistic content that could have varying degrees of quality over time could also use it.

Upvote if you would save or share it, meh if you internally smiled softly. Yea I want it

"meh" kinda feels dismissive in most cases, though. An explicit "meh" option seems like a downvote to me.
