I don't even remember making that prediction, I must admit. It's like finding change under a couch cushion.
Predictions get made here all the time is all I'm saying. Not surprising when one of us gets one right, especially when they're on of the most active users on the site.
I want to see a prediction that actually has the 
emoji in it or right next to it that comes true.

I think some of Stalin's allegations make this a difficult position to maintain.
those allegations are so baseless even the anti-tankie crowd doesnt mention it much. could it have happened? sure. but the evidence is shaky at best and rests on one historians word, Simon Sebag Montefiore. Plus Kruschev was on an anti-Stalin speedrun.
I know this is such a lib line, but the validity doesn't matter to her point. I think Stalin probably didn't do it, but in the future there certainly will be some important revolutionaries who commit SA because that's something that, sadly, people in positions of power do that with alarming frequency. We're gonna have to figure out how to reconcile that very effective revolutionaries can sometimes be terrible people.

You're right, if we're talking about active people then yes, we gotta root out abusers. I was thinking more in cases where it's uncovered afterward, but didn't qualify it in my comment.

It's a nice sentiment that'll blind us to reality. What will actually differentiate us from our enemies is how we will respond when leftists do it. I don't care if he says the right things.

Sure but his spin isn't the same as others using that word, he uses the rightwing language but his takes are more of an anti rainbow-capitalism and pink-capitalism approach. I reckon he believes he can appeal to those people and drag them left by doing so, now you might consider that a futile waste of time and I'd be inclined to agree with you but his content has a distinct difference to theirs.
To be honest though at the moment I don't really care that much for arguing over what he is, and don't really see it as mattering. I do care about seeing these allegations get the proper airing they deserve and with any luck seeing a court room.

I don't know if it's prophecy or the fact that we all expect the worst of all outcomes and the world rarely fails to surprise us
The last time everyone assumed that the worst wouldn't happen was when we were all pretty sure Russia wouldn't invade Ukraine, and yet...
I don't remember anyone predicting the invasion actually happening. It blindsided us all as far as I can recall.
That's what I mean. We assumed the less bad thing (no invasion) would happen, and the universe came in to remind us that the worst thing always happens.
I stand by that prediction, using the exact same logic I did to get that answer would get the correct answer every other time in the previous 25 years that any remotely similar situation happened. A 95% hit rate is pretty good.
Russell Brands “Revolution” was one of the first left wing books i read. I was trying to get off heroin at the time and, I guess just because he spoke so openly about his struggles with the drug and seemed to have come out of it alright, he was almost a kind of role model, at least in that respect. Once I got into Marxism it became clear to me that he was a grifter with no real answers, even when he was still on the left, and I haven’t thought of him for many years. The sad thing is how obvious his predatory behaviour seems in hindsight - all those uncomfortable women laughing at him in interviews so that they don’t lose their jobs, his rapey jokes, the obvious narcissism and getting off on crossing peoples boundaries. And that was the model presented to us back then for how to be successful with women - that kind of superficial gamey aggression. Nowdays with people like Tate it’s even more insane. Anyway I hope he gets his due.

If you actually read real revolutionary texts by real revolutionaries, it's pretty easy to tell the difference. It's all about the initial axioms they are operating on.
Also, there’s a difference between pithy observations on working class oppression and having a fully fledged revolutionary ideology mapped out.
