The last time everyone assumed that the worst wouldn't happen was when we were all pretty sure Russia wouldn't invade Ukraine, and yet...
I don't remember anyone predicting the invasion actually happening. It blindsided us all as far as I can recall.
That's what I mean. We assumed the less bad thing (no invasion) would happen, and the universe came in to remind us that the worst thing always happens.
I stand by that prediction, using the exact same logic I did to get that answer would get the correct answer every other time in the previous 25 years that any remotely similar situation happened. A 95% hit rate is pretty good.
