And it was not the best experience. I really like the result though, very cute, my partner likes it a lot. But I will probably stick to non-counted stitching methods, they suit me better.

I love all of this, am envious, and want it in my life.

[โ€“] just_chill@jlai.lu 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's not that difficult actually, you should give it a try !

[โ€“] Quexotic@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'll add it to the adhd list โค๏ธ

[โ€“] just_chill@jlai.lu 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh, I see ! :D
I hope you can hyperfocus on it then, it's probably not the adhd friendliest hobby, but who knows. (That being said, I love to listen to podcast at the same time, maybe that's an idea)

ร–oooo. Nice idea. I may need to try to make time. First I've gotta get a sec+ and a new job, but maybe that can be next.

It looks fantastic! Maybe you would enjoy it more if you start with something bigger on aida cloth? This looks kind of small and fiddly for a first attempt at cross stitch lol you did a great job though!

The size wasn't too bad actually, it's just the counting that doesn't do it for me. It's not much fun and I made so many mistakes miscounting stuff. I'm not too sad about it though, there are enough types of embroidery, I will just do something else.

Stumbled in here. How does someone start in this? I recently learned how to do some basic sewing, but this looks cool

The easy way to start would be a kit with all material and instructions in one go. Unfortunately, beginner kits are fairly often crappy, I guess you will need to balance price and quality. You should try to ask locally where to buy a kit from a small designer, they are usually a bit more expensive but so much better. Or maybe visit a craft fair, some offer beginner courses.
Alternatively you can try youtube university ! You will need the dedicated fabric, called aida cloth, a needle, an embroidery hoop and some embroidery floss. Embroidery floss is probably the thing you want to not be stingy about when you start, get either DMC thread or anchor. There is always a better thing to buy, I'd suggest your first upgrade to be nice needles or a better hoop, depending on which one gives you the most trouble. Also do make a dedicated post, ask questions and post your finishes and failures here !

Thanks for the info!
