For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

Nonsense. The parent/human shield relationship is sacred.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 70 points 1 week ago (1 children)

fuck parents that use their kids as bargaining chips.

dude needs to get his toes stomped on.

[–] SwordInStone@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

more like a human shield

[–] Thistlewick@lemmynsfw.com 49 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If he is legitimately spending more time with his children, it is solely because he wants to appear sympathetic to the next shooter.

[–] dragonfucker@lemmy.nz 22 points 1 week ago

It's worse. He's using them as a human shield

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 29 points 1 week ago (2 children)

That kid is pretty short, doubt it would be a problem.

[–] Manifish_Destiny@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

When he's outside and feeling at risk he has the kid sit on his shoulders.

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 25 points 1 week ago

probably tells the kid his daddy is actually the president.

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 22 points 1 week ago

Luigi should have thought of the repercussions of his acts, now a child will have to spend a significant amount of time next to the bazinga billionaire

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There is so much going on in this picture, and nobody looks comfortable. Musk looks like he's struggling to keep the kid next to him. The guy with the earbuds behind him seems alarmed for some reason. Everyone else looks bored at best.

Though to be fair, I wouldn't be surprised if every room Musk went into had a mix of people feeling either bored, alarmed, or desperate to escape.

TBF this is any time you bring your kid to an adult group, lol. Kid probably just wants to split and be with whoever the actual present caregiver is.

Oh, absolutely. I can’t imagine Musk is used to it. I gotta admit, I get a petty kick out of the idea that he’s struggling to keep a kid in line. After living in that privileged bubble surrounded by “yes men” and outsourcing parenting duties for so long, he’s suddenly at the whims of a small child. That loss of control is massive.

Is it bring your kid to work day? Why am I suddenly seeing so many pictures of Leon parading his kid around government offices? Why is he the only one doing this? Vivek also has two sons but you don't se him parading them around like sacrificial pawns for the press.

[–] tfw_no_toiletpaper@lemmy.world 33 points 1 week ago

Using it as a meatshield probably

[–] VerdantSporeSeasoning@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

'normalizing kids being part of their parents lives' bullshit

Most jobs I've had would fire you if you brought your kid to work.

How is he going to be running a department on efficiency with a lil kid running around? A lot of people remember working from home with their kids at home...

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 9 points 1 week ago

How is he going to be running a department on efficiency with a lil kid running around?

Easy. Musk is going to ignore their child like his ignores all his other children.

[–] dragonfucker@lemmy.nz 15 points 1 week ago

That kid probably hates wearing a suit and would much prefer shorts and a t shirt.

[–] 96VXb9ktTjFnRi@feddit.nl 14 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

It is normal for kids to be an active part of a parents life. The suggestion that it needs normalizing is rather bizarre. What does that even mean? "People should've warned me about getting kids, what I didn't realize was that being a parent involves a kid being an active part of my life, if only I knew I never would've wanted that". Or "I was so ashamed to tell my friends that I spent time with my son. I was certain they thought it wasn't normal, everyone looks down on it. Thank God Elon Musk normalized it now". Yeah that all sounds very reasonable.

You're right. I'm sure this post accusing famed involved parent... Elon Musk... of disingenuously trotting his kid out for photo ops is way off base. I wonder how his other kids are doing.

[–] BrokenGlepnir@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

"Normalizing" that's already normal for healthy people. Even some unhealthy ones I know.

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 week ago

All those people to babysit the two children in the photo?

[–] Ulvain@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

"huuumam sheiiild, diiiinnweeer..."

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

using kids as props is a new low for Elon well apart from jumping up and down like a toddler in Trump's rallies and a couple other things

[–] AutistoMephisto@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Oh, he's not using the kid as a prop. The kid is a shield. He's so afraid of sharing a certain health insurance CEO's fate, that he keeps his child near him.

[–] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Tbf, I don't think this is anything new. He brought his kid to meet Recep Tayyip Erdogan for some reason

[–] intensely_human@lemm.ee 1 points 1 week ago

My understanding is that one of them doesn’t talk to him.

[–] ryedaft@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

He's been mocked for years about what a shit father he is. Poor kid.
