There's so much text here I don't know how to alt text it but it's a list of 17 bluesky block lists I'm on because I'm a evil cryptofash tankie authoritarian trump supporting jill stein voting blah blah blah and it looks like I got on an anti-ukraine list somehow?

people who use the word ”neoliberal” to describe anyone to the right of Che Guevara

i-think-that I'll do it again.

What I learned today is that people don't think "The Left" means abolishing capital and private property. They think it's a vague basket of social policies, not economic systems. Like, they don't think its "abolish capitalism and social policies", just the social policies.

You can thank an entire century's worth of propaganda for that one. Every group in the United States that has asked for a better or more equitable society has been accused of being secretly communist / marxist / socialist / russian / chinese (those are all interchangable for Americans). And since neoliberalism has made the discussion of actual economic policy haram, people are left to only discuss the social policies (also due to the whitewashing that the State has successfully managed to pull off with regards to historical radicals).

The other day my conservative stepdad said that the EU was leftwing, when I said he was crazy he would just rant about the greens.

Politics is just vibes, and the vibes aren't even good.

Like, they don't think its "abolish capitalism and social policies", just the social policies.

also, they think affordable healthcare is abolishing capitalism

Quite possible you just rubbed someone the wrong way. Wil Wheaton used to put anyone who sent him 'shut up, Wesley' on the gamergate list.

tag yourself, I'd be

Unwitting tool for anti democratic and authoritarian agendas

except I do it on purpose. Chinese democracy is not western democracy - it actually works!

Authoritarianism is good actually I like having learned people and professionals who are authorities in certain topics. I also like having leaders so I don't have to do every single damn thing by myself every day.

[–] drake@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 week ago

TIL Hitler was a learned professional in one or more certain topics

We must protect the democratic party from any and all criticism.

How dare the tankies suggest the party did anything wrong?

yeeee there it is

[–] Piment@hexbear.net 25 points 1 week ago

peltier-laugh I think this is extremely anti social behaviour, but also very funny that people are giving you a reason why they blocked you and sharing it with other people, I can't even begin to imagine the lists of some people on here if this feature was on lemmy, "@HexbearsStrongestSoldier" blocked on 1000 different lists

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think there's a way to merge blocklists together. So if you didn't post anything about Ukraine - some rando might have grabbed your name from an existing list and stuck you into their anti-Ukraine list because you're a leftist who posts. Bluesky libs are pathetic in their blocking/muting fetish.

[–] Frank@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah it's a fascinating sociology experiment. They're not curating their own blocks when they're using lists, so they're subscribing to someone else's whims. I think they're going to end up in smaller and smaller silo'd microcommunities and we're going to get old Tumblr levels of bizarre niche cultures where people just develop incredible beliefs.

Like they have no idea how important it was that everyone was angry at everyone on Twitter to keep the culture mill churning. Without that constant hostility Bsky is going to be a very different experience. Maybe pleasant for some, but it's also not going to drive hte kind of virality that people are used to where there are big twitter moments everyone participates in.

I think it's funny that solidarity is needed more than ever yet they're going to do their version of punching left even harder. And it's the most liberal way of punching left possible. No fuss. No bother. No scraped knuckles. They click a few links and let the code do all the work. It's like anti-solidarity.

Yeah I don't feel sorry for Dem voters in the slightest. The way they've been acting is disgusting

[–] Lerios@hexbear.net 23 points 1 week ago

ngl, shoutout to the people that said "nah, we don't vibe 🥰" and left it at that. like, that is the sane way to use the torment box

[–] boiledfrog@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago

Who would have thought that twitter #2, made by the same shithead would suck just as much as twitter

[–] pooh@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] rafflesia@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

wow that seems like a very normal and social thing to have, public enemy lists.

[–] abc@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago

what's funny is this is just another Twitter thing that Bluesky just copied. I've been on a list on Twitter called 'Mattress Tweets' for like a decade now and I've seen people on Twitter do things like put you on a list they've created called 'Big Idiots' or something along those lines. Bluesky users have just, for whatever reason, decided this is also worth doing lmao

[–] machiabelly@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago

awwww who could block you?? You're so cute cat-trans

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

Blocklists on Twitter actually had a value because total number of blocks had a real effect on how much the algorithm presents a person to other people at one point in time.

Blocklists on Bluesky do fuck all other than remove people that would oppose your shit from the pool of respondents you might get.

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wait they got lists for people that are blocked? Like reasons and shit? How online are they?

[–] drake@lemmy.sdf.org 15 points 1 week ago

They love to put their enemies into little categories and assigning them a symbol and colour, like a yellow star, or a pink triangle. I’m not sure where that may have originated, someone should look into it.

I'm Weirdos: Obnoxious and Edgelords

[–] neo@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

I find it funny that one of the lists is marked as "deprecated" ...? The list author should've just deleted the list. It's not like code where it gets deployed and breaks if you pull the rug out from others who use it.

[–] ThermonuclearEgg@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

Trumpers/Fascists posing as leftists

They're going to put Bernie Sanders on this list by their logic, right?

[–] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

I read bluesky as a Polish surname. Is that correct?
