This is the talking point. The "dirtbag left" is dead. We need to quash our irony and take advantage of the moment.

Get serious and talk to your liberals this week.

I just emailed the PSL to figure out what it will take to set up a chapter where I am. I'm not a paying member yet but will join officially as soon as I'm making money.

Gonna be hard as hell setting up in the Texas Panhandle, deep in Christo-fascist Trump land but fuck it. I'm not gonna stand by idly why my bothers and sisters suffer.

Organize. Agitate. Fight Back!

[–] Jabril@hexbear.net 33 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Honestly it would probably be more strategic to start something that directly helps the local people and opens them up to inoculation than try and start a PSL chapter

[–] roux@hexbear.net 21 points 2 months ago (1 children)

When I sent the application request thing, I stated that I wanted to discuss the prospects of doing this exactly for reasons like what you mention. I will probably already bring it up to the others who help with FNB because I think they are all left-leaning libs at worst, that mean well. I think they are more open to that discussion.

[–] Jabril@hexbear.net 19 points 2 months ago (1 children)

tbh I doubt they would even get back to you for that, PSL is notoriously bad at getting back to people in general while also only helping people to promote PSL and Peace & Freedom's candidates or show up to ANSWER stuff. maybe they will be changing these things with the election over, trying to use the momentum to build their party up.

I think non political people who have the standard 8th grade civ level of understanding installed and otherwise are just obviously people who care about life and other living things are really the best because it is easy to walk them to "the system doesn't work," they typically understand that already and just don't have the words to describe it. getting a group of people in similar shitty circumstances together and forming a plan on how to tackle those issues through building an organization together can be as easy as a bbq in the lawn at your local slumlord's apartment building. just need to analyze your local conditions and find the contradictions that have the most kinetic energy so to speak

[–] roux@hexbear.net 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They would be missing a great opportunity to build their party if they don't personally act on this. I've been out of activism IRL for a few years but I know a lot of people are really pissed off right now and the PSL did a decent job getting their name out to at least leftist spaces.

[–] CutieBootieTootie@hexbear.net 15 points 2 months ago (1 children)

DM me, we're actively running a drive to make sure we capitalize this momentum. We can exchange matrix info and I'll try to get you in contact with someone and make sure your application is seen.

They never got back to me last time so this time I told them I'm pissed lol.

I have a handful of people I can reach out to but I'm already worried about getting them to read theory.

[–] Cowbee@hexbear.net 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Good luck, comrade. The hardest struggles are sometimes the most important.

[–] Caitycat@hexbear.net 49 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The realization that theres a non insignificant amount of Americans who hate the status quo but didn't vote for Trump is actually a good wake up call. Its going to be an absolute uphill battle, but leftism actually has a chance of having an actual movement in America.

Im gonna see if theres any orgs I can join near me, and I hope that everyone else can too.

[–] spectre@hexbear.net 26 points 2 months ago

Joining an existing org is most likely for the best, but also consider rolling your own. You can do both, ofc (just campaign within your miniparty to disband and convert to the larger org you're working with at some point).

Thinking about dropping links to Blackshirts and Reds even more aggressively lenin-shining

Honey, I don't think I can look at anyone who consented to genocide knowing full well what we're doing with anything but disgust. If you're capable of organizing then please organize. I want off Mr. MERICA's wild ride.

[–] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

I'm feeling that. I don't wanna lash out at the wrong people, but seeing folks who were apathetic on bombing starving populations, suddenly comparing themselves to Katniss because Kamala lost. I'm gonna clear my head with a run before engaging in convo with any more libs.

[–] Diuretic_Materialism@hexbear.net 27 points 2 months ago (4 children)

I wish I had the faith you did, but all I'm seeing right now is everyone blaming the left for this. Libs are pissed and openly wishing for Palestinians to get bombed and immigrants deported. I don't see any path for socialists to take here besides just cracking open a beer and hoping China invades soon. I may need to grab a six pack. Nah fuck that a case.

[–] Jabril@hexbear.net 38 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (7 children)

Those are not the people who are going to be organized, they are fascists taking their masks off. The average Black and Indigenous person in America does not think this way. The average Muslim, Arab, or even Asians in general most likely do not think this way. Communists organize the most marginalized and oppressed, not fully invested liberals.

Nah, I'm having so much luck with talking to squishy left-libs rn its crazy. Even some blueanon russiagate types seem to be understanding how much of a dead end the dems are. off to c/doomer with this sentiment.

[–] ChaosMaterialist@hexbear.net 26 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Online, yes.

Offline, no!

Fuck online liberals. They are glorified keyboard warriors.

[–] Diuretic_Materialism@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

We live in the digital age, everyone is online. IDK where everyone gets this idea that online libs dissipate into ether when they log off.

[–] ChaosMaterialist@hexbear.net 20 points 2 months ago

There is a difference between the terminally online liberal, who make up the vast majority of posters coping online, VS a lot of people I'm talking with offline are in a major depressive state. The latter aren't posting on Reddit/Twitter/etc right now, and are very receptive to an alternative view.

[–] Caitycat@hexbear.net 14 points 2 months ago

I definitely get your concern, but while the libs are lashing out like that I don't think you should take it that seriously. The people who can be worked with and recruited aren't the ones talking right now, so its important we can find them and work with them before the right does.

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 23 points 2 months ago

Exactly, we've got a lot of work to do

y'all go ahead, I'm spending the next week doing the most insufferable gloating right in the faces of the smug liberals who chided me for caring about genocide

[–] REgon@hexbear.net 15 points 2 months ago (4 children)

No actually now is the time for doomerism and apathy, please do not go out and do any sort of leftism please fedposting

Sent in my PSL application! Does anyone know how selective they are for members?

[–] jack@hexbear.net 8 points 2 months ago

Varies a lot based on a specific branch's needs and status. Sometimes branches are in periods of aggressive growth, sometimes periods of internal consolidation with minimal onboards. But almost branches are going into growth mode after the election.
