oh yea, it'll be all "we need to come together" and "we're going to help everybody" for the next 2 months

then, the instant he steps into office, freedom of speech: gone. freedom of the press: gone. EPA: gone. dept. of education: gone. SEC: gone. consumer protections, civil rights, equality, accountability, justice-- all. fucking. gone.

expect mass imprisonments, assassinations, and other removals

"that can't happen in this country!!" you might be saying. why not? because of "checks and balances"? LOL

you have about 2 months to prepare your asshole

[–] NJSpradlin@lemmy.world 87 points 2 days ago (7 children)

People were like ‘the president wouldn’t assassinate his own people or work with enemy foreign nations to do so!’ but then they turned a blind eye to Trump’s security ‘lapses’ and the distinctly sharp rise in the deaths of our undercover operatives around the globe.

He will sell out America, spill its blood for his own gain, and he already has.

[–] solsangraal@lemmy.zip 41 points 2 days ago (1 children)

and we're leaving out implications at the local level. why would a trumper sheriff bother going after someone for murdering marginalized peoples? why would any lawyer take up any case against a trump appointed judge (spoiler alert: it'll be all of them, soon)?

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago

Abbott already pardoned some shitbag for murder because he was a conservative who murdered a liberal.

Also, remember that this follows HOT on the heels of SCOTUS saying "basically anything a President does is legal". This theoretically means Trump and his admin could sidestep Congress entirely, on anything. Trump was already ruling by EO last term, but I suspect we haven't seen anything yet.

There can't be checks and balances when both are in the same hand.

[–] Aurenkin@sh.itjust.works 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)

There are plenty of checks and balances. People write the checks, other people apply them to their balances.

So glad the community is getting indundated with a bunch of people who never post here celebrating the win of the fascist that is going to put people in concentration camps.

[–] orclev@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah I'm making sure to tag all of them for future tracking. Learned that lesson with the NAZIs, if this is ever over not going to let them quietly slink away. When this inevitably starts going south and these same assholes are bitching and whining about how the economy is a trash fire and their rights are being shit all over I'll be there to remind them they wanted this.

There is going to be an assload of fingerpointing.

Here is my take: even if Kamala won, there is a deep rot that we would be in denial about. Trump should have broken the Republican party but did not and instead galvanized support through misinformation, lies, and hatred. That would not have been cured if Kamala won. At least now we have to be honest with the state of the US.

Still, we can hope he dies of a heart attack.

[–] VerdantSporeSeasoning@lemmy.ca 12 points 2 days ago

The people who will be in power around him might well get rid of him themselves for all the use they want. He's getting them to power. Vance and Musk and Thiel and whoever the fuck else don't care about Trump. They want power.

[–] WhyFlip@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Trump dying of a heart attack (or whatever) is even more frightening with Vance in the mix.

In an ideal scenario the President of the United States and the worst person in the world would be two different people.

[–] Ioughttamow@fedia.io 35 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I hope this fucker has a massive stroke, or his dementia goes on overdrive and he undresses at his inauguration. Fuck this asshole

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world 34 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Then we get President Couch F*cker. Ugh.

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 2 days ago

At least then there might be infighting over who gets to be the next cult leader.

[–] CEbbinghaus@lemmy.world 29 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Democracy suffers another blow by its own hand

[–] teamevil@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

This was the kill shot for democracy or what we called democracy.

[–] anon_8675309@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Too many misogynists in this country.

[–] seth@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

And racists, and just antipathic people in general, and those traits overlap.

[–] Oyml77@lemmy.today 7 points 2 days ago

And racists. Don't forget about the racists.

[–] DontRedditMyLemmy@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

Compared to 4 years ago, his popular vote hasn't changed much, but over 10m blue voters didn't come back. That made all the difference. Joe Biden I did that sticker

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 17 points 2 days ago (7 children)

And it wasn't even close... Holy shit America, what the fuck is wrong with you.

So there was a lot of "I will get rid of my political opponents" in this election. Political assaesinations were explicitly okayed by that corrupt bunch called the supreme Court, sooooo... Can we expect a whole lotta "kamela walked by an open window and shit happened" type situations?

He talked about dozens of millions of people that would be deported right away, where to? Mexico won't just be able to accept millions of refugees, how would any of that work?

Then climate... The world literally is fucked. Climate chante is through the roof and multiple points of no return have come and passed. There are still things we sorta can do if we really step up and work hard on it, invest a lot of money. That's all gone, so yeah... Expect major catastrophes within the decade thanks to this, fuck you America, you are killing the world

Loads of women will die, but then again, they already did in the past years and nobody gave a shit to really stop that.

Ukraine is fucked, Europe will now have to take over it's defense. NATO will suffer and likely continue without the US, I guess?

Palestinians are fucked, they'll die. Sorry guys by at least some people got to vote for Stein!

So we have a Jesus will come back cult controlled by Putin in charge of 5,500 nukes and this time they've prepared, nothing yo see here.

What else?

Oooohhh, project 2025!

Military will he used against US citizens, meh, they called that in themselves at his point

Press freedoms will go away

Personal freedoms will go away

Polarization in he county is at its maximum

And again, we haver a jeebus cult why Nikes who want to bring the happy news yo the entire world. Trump already threatened to invade Mexico before so...

One wonders how fucked up the next decades will be for everyone.

Wil there be a US civil war? I think it's an actual fair question. How many rights can a king take away before people say, enough? Maybe one can hope for a coup?

All of this is insane, yet, correct me if I'm wrong here, at least half of the above will likely happen

Yay Americans, you got what you wanted

[–] hydroxycotton@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I feel like an alien or something. I just feel so disconnected from my fellow Americans.

[–] chetradley@lemm.ee 11 points 2 days ago

There are about 66 million of us that probably feel the same way. You're not alone.

We deserve what's coming to us.

[–] Humanius@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Americans.. maybe.. at least those stupid enough to vote for this guy again.
I feel bad for the Americans who knew what Trump stood for and voted Harris to at least prevent that.

The rest of the world doesn't deserve this though.. And Trump will still affect them and their lives in many ways.

[–] SomeGuy69@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (4 children)

So what position in the white house will Musk get now?
