Summary

Though several Proud Boys leaders remain in prison on January 6 charges, the far-right militia group remains active, with some chapters saying they’ll watch the polls Tuesday.

As Donald Trump intensifies rhetoric around alleged election fraud and labels Democrats as “enemies,” the Proud Boys—central figures in the Capitol attack—are rallying online support for him. While there are no explicit calls for interference, posts from some chapters hint at readiness for action.

Federal authorities face constraints in countering domestic misinformation, adding tension as Trump’s language grows increasingly violent leading up to Election Day.

why aren't these stupid fucks declared a terrorist organization?

they keep doing terrorism as defined by Homeland Security:

Violent, criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature.

for the record, it doesn't necessarily have to be physical violence. Intimidation at polling places is terrorism.

Because then most of our law enforcement would be indicted. Pigs don’t go after other pigs. Same reason the klan is still around.

Because apparently we don't have homegrown terrorist organizations. That would be an admission too far.

Why? Ahem...

🎵 Some of those that work forces... 🎵

IIRC it has to do with the label "domestic terrorism," and labelling groups that will otherwise be treated below the law.

We say proud boys are "domestic terrorists" and send them to gitmo, then suddenly desantis is saying everyone he doesn't like is antifa.

And that's worse than having the proud boys.

I could be totally wrong, this is just what I felt I've been lead to believe in that past was the reasoning for this clear issue.

I think it would be pretty easy to come up with a legal metric for what is defined as a terrorist organization, if one doesn't already exist. The Proud Boys would have definitely passed pretty much any bar at this point.

Voter intimidation is a crime.

[–] Kalkaline@leminal.space 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What about intimidating the intimidators?

[–] SkavarSharraddas@gehirneimer.de 40 points 1 week ago

Proud enough to show their faces?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 27 points 1 week ago

Proud Boys continue to show their intelligence level by revealing their plans ahead of time.

Trump could have pardoned everyone arrested on January 6.

His people just aren't very smart.

[–] mbrailer@mstdn.social 16 points 1 week ago (3 children)

@Dagwood222 @MicroWave I think many of the J6 terrorists weren't caught until after Trump left office Jan 20. And those few who were caught early would have been sentenced too late for Trump to pardon them.

[–] CainTheLongshot@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Preemptive blanket pardon, which Ford used for Nixon.

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They couldn’t afford trump pardons, anyhow. The asking price was $2 million each.

[–] mbrailer@mstdn.social 1 points 1 week ago

@LillyPip Also, they were just foot soldiers. We know how he feels about soldiers.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

just for the record, a pardon does not require a conviction. Accepting one is broadly considered an admission of guilt, mind; but there's no need to be actually convicted to receive one and it's protections.

Prideful and not even men lol

[–] kikutwo@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

Good, been wanting to kick some proud girls ass.

Can you imagine how disheartening it must be to go out and join a domestic terrorist organization only to have to call yourself a "proud boy'? I'd be self-conscious and ready to fight at the drop of a hat too.

Not surprised none were at my polling place at 6AM. Their parents hadn't managed to get them out of bed and shooed out of the basement yet after a long night of plowing each others moms while playing Counterstrike.
