but if we get rid of the electoral college, a few provincial morons in states that won't matter wouldn't be able to matter anymore. the horror!

Nothing to worry about, electoral college or not it would still be just as nigh-impossible to get genuine majoritarian rule under the US' and broader western "liberal democracy's" system.

Many of my friends are blue voters in a swing state with a Republican legislature, and although their lives are miserable in many ways (especially with what's being done to public schools) they can't seem to tell me a single thing Biden has done to help them. There's no Plan B. There's no mitigation. There's no using the bully pulpit, or opening abortion clinics on federal lands, or prosecuting the ghouls for civil rights violations, or anything else.
