The most WV thing I've read all day. I grew up chasing our horses and returning the neighbor's cows, goats, and chickens.
Many years ago, I was en route to a wedding (IIRC, in Gilmer county) when I ran into a delay because there were several emu out on the road and acting belligerent. When I got to the wedding, I met the neighbor whose emus were acting up and helped them round up the wayward birds. It wasn't just the emus, he had quite a menagerie.
At my old house, I got the odd stray cow and a neighbor's Shetland pony seemed to prefer my grass to theirs. I didn't even know you could have a pet kangaroo here, though I've also never even thought about it. lol
