I wish I lived in a place that allowed me to live aboard a sailboat. I understand it has tremendous difficulties but the romanticism is too powerful for me to resist. Also

the high cost of sailing is really irritating to me, it seems like living aboard a boat would be fun and the efficiency is amazing, but somehow the bourgeoisie have turned it into a trifle for them to play with in their yacht clubs and the market went upscale
One is a sailboat, but what is the other one?
Train
So trains are awesome and all, but they're not second behind sailboats for fuel efficiency. Motorized ocean freighters are still more efficient than trains when measuring kilograms of cargo moved per liter of fuel consumed per kilometer travelled. Nuclear vessels would be considered more efficient than that, but they're not commercially available.
How are you going to sail an ocean freighter to Minsk?
You're not. I'm not saying trains aren't important. The same question about trains could be made: how are you going to ship a box of raisin bran to my house by rail? I love trains; they're the fucking best. For land-based shipping, they are the most efficient mechanism by FAR; it's not even a close comparison. But they are absolutely trounced by commercial ocean ships.
