All four melons lived in harmony, then everything changed when the fire melon attacked

And the Avatar must master all four elemelons.

I feel like earthmellon would just be a coconut. I'm excited for windmelon and firemellon, though.

Rockmelon is another name for cantaloupe

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 year ago

That's true, I guess because of the peel. By that logic watermelons would have to be blue, though.

Dragonfruit? Or are we going capsaicin

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I was thinking that it's about composition (watermelon is mostly water), so probably more capsaicin. Hot like a pepper but big and round. And maybe some orangish bioluminescence too, since it's a made-up fruit and I'm allowed some creative licence.

Windmelon would then be very light and spongy.

I wonder if a fruit like that could ever be GMO'ed.

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 year ago

I see no fundamental reason why not. The barriers are mostly cultural and in understanding details of biology when it comes to GMOs.

"Mm... Sure can't wait to try this windmelon!"

Punctures it with knife to cut it and it just explodes because it's full of compressed air

Whatever you're smoking, I want it!

"Elemelons". Now that is a new favorite high word, next to banana. Banananananananananana.....
