Video game news oriented community. No NanoUFO is not a bot :)

- News oriented content (general reviews, previews or retrospectives allowed).

- No clickbait, editorialized, sensational titles. State the game in question in the title. No all caps.

Evidently it was not clear enough.
Or Valve didn't check every last little detail and expected the publisher to take care of it, until it became a big controversy.

You answered it yourself. Valve did not adequately check
That would require Valve to be the reason behind this change, and reading every description for every game is something I doubt they do.
Clearly this is the responsibility of the publisher.
