A community dedicated to the universe of Warhammer 40k, a tabletop setting in the far, distant future.
This is a general community for 40k miniatures, art, lore discussion, and gameplay discussion.
Rules
- Keep it civil.
- No memeposts/shitposts. Memes are great but direct them to grimdank.
- Please mark any posts containing realistic nudity or realistic excessive gore/violence as NSFW; this rule mainly applies to cosplay and realistic drawings rather than miniatures. Being that 40k is inherently violent, this is a judgement call, and mods may occasionally request posters add tags.
- No political or social cause agenda pushing.

That looks really good! White paint is a real pain in the ass.
Yeah, I didn't even try to do smooth white for this guy. Pure trickery.
Zenithal prime white over grey; All over Apothecary White Contrast; All over Drakenhof Nightshade (read: blue) Shade; Really heavy "dry brush" Reaper Ghost White (read, slightly blue white); More normal dry brush Reaper Solid White for the edges.
Ideally all the different tones work together to convince you that it is solid white with natural shadows.
I tried apothecary white contrast over white scar primer and it came out super grey, didn't read white at all. This is what I ended up with after a lot of fiddling, but it was a pain in the ass.
