internet weirdo invents new irreconcilable political position, demands people yell at them

tale as old as time

I mean, plenty of communists (including here) support Russia’s anti-imperialist goals against NATO. The idea that countries like Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan and Syria deserve to be bombed because they are socially conservative is simply ridiculous.

Besides, the idea that progressive and LGBT movements can only happen by aligning with the Western bloc is quite frankly, chauvinist. Look at Cuba - 50 years of isolation from Western imperialism and still able to develope a progressive culture more than anything America and Europe can pretend to be.

If anything, US/NATO imperialism has directly resulted in the oppression and murder of far too many progressive movements across the developing world, more than anything Russia can ever hope to achieve, which led to the rise of conservative governments in those countries in the first place.

This is why Mao stressed so much about identifying the principal contradiction, because without which you will always play into the hands of perpetuating capitalism and imperialism.

I agree with what you're saying, but the person who posted that is definitely an internet weirdo begging to be yelled at

Can action against imperialist states be anti-imperialist if the result of victory in that action is growing your own empire?

[–] SkolShakedown@hexbear.net 24 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

on paper no, but any action against American hegemony is net anti-imperialist. America just is that bad.

There's only one empire on earth currently

[–] GaveUp@hexbear.net 16 points 1 year ago

The empire died over a century ago

[–] iie@hexbear.net 13 points 1 year ago

when your empire is a lot smaller and weaker, I would argue so. less leverage to subjugate people.

I mean, Russia isn't creating an empire, so it's a moot point
