They don't tip well and treat people in lower positions poorly. From the downvotes, I can tell a whole hell of a lot of Lemmings were raised by shit parents. WTF is wrong with you people? You can dislike tipping culture all you want, but if the environment is one where tipping is a main source of income for someone (namely wait staff), then get your ass off the soap box and you tip them. Argue the merits of tipping elsewhere.
They don't have a fascination with learning new things. Doesn't have to be strictly school-related, but something ain't right if discovering new things and learning about the world doesn't interest you.
Though I always tip, I think that the tipping system is bad and getting worse and the world would be a better place if restaurants and the such would simply pay servers a normal salary like everyone else.
These days it's common to see 30% as a tipping option, I've seen places with 40%
Sorry, but tipping is bullshit and has to be eliminated altogether
Currently visiting Japan and tipping is not a thing. It's actually quite a liberating feeling not feeling guilty about if I should tip 18, 22, 25% etc. That and the dining experience is better overall, sit down, eat and walk to the register and pay when you are done. So much simpler. I can't stand waiting for a server to grab my card and come back.
/endrant
I still think 15% is generous. I don't get why people think 25% is sane or 18% is where it should start.
It's creeped up to insane amounts.
Your rant has almost nothing to do with nothing. If a place has a pay structure where tipping is "expected" then if you as the customer don't tip, then you're a douche. Eliminating that pay structure is totally fine by me, but until that happens, those folks are dependent on tips.
I don't think he's implying he doesn't tip, just that the system is broken.
And few are going to argue with that, but it has nothing to do with this topic.
It does. Tipping was mentioned and u simply sais that not tipping may not be nice but at the same time tipping itself is just an abusive system
The problem, in my opinion, is all of the places where tipping isn't expected, but you're asked to anyways. Now i feel like a dick because i don't understand why handing me my order is work requiring a tip.
I did specifically say that I do tip. I just think the entire system is abusive to both waiters and customers and should be illegal at least as it is currently where it's just an extra 20-35% tax on top of your normal food
